The Ocean County Jail has a monthly turnover of 40% of their inmate population, another 30% turnover every 90 days, another 20% every six months, and approximately 10% stay incarcerated between six and twelve months. General Rules for all Video Visits - Both at the Jail & Remote from Home

• First you must Register online, and then Schedule a visit online with GTL/ViaPath.
  
• There is a 48 hour processing period between registration and scheduling your first visit.
• Eligible inmates may have two (2) fifteen (15) minute video visits each week at the jail.
• Any visitor not registered for a visit, children included, will not be permitted inside the facility.
• Schedule Visits at least one day in advance, but not more than 7 days in advance.
• Personal items are not permitted in the building. Visitors will be allowed to enter the building with their photo ID only.
• Expect to be required to wear a mask, so bring one.
• Inmates housed in the Assessment Unit/Cells are ineligible for visits. Inmates in Sanction Housing or Disciplinary Detention will lose visitation privileges.

Contact Visits - Rules

• Approved inmates will be allowed one contact visit every 30 days.
• Only inmates who have been incarcerated for at least 90 days are eligible for contact visits.
• Contact visit requests must be received by the classification unit at least 14 days prior to the requested visit date.
• There will be a maximum of two (2) adult visitors allowed each visit. All visitors’ names, dates of birth, and social security number must be listed on the request form.
• Visitors must be here 15 minutes before the scheduled visit time.
• Visits will be conducted in 30 minute intervals, with visits being 15 minutes in length. 

Remote (from your home) Video Visitation Schedule

• Schedule at least a day in advance, but not more than 7 days in advance.
• Visits are 16 minutes long, and cost $4.00 each.

Ocean County Jail uses GettingOut for their Remote Video Visitation and/or Visit Scheduling. 

There are three ways to remotely visit your inmate:

2. Using your computer from home.

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Ocean County Jail?

The Ocean County Jail does NOT allow postcards.

Envelopes
The Ocean County Jail only allows WHITE envelopes with plain WHITE paper to be mailed to inmates.

• Must include a return address.
• Letter can only be written in ink.
• No greeting cards.
• No photos can be mailed.
• Any letters not conforming will be returned to sender.
• No cash, money orders or cashier's checks.

Newspapers
Not allowed. Newspapers will be provided by the facility.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Ocean County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address above.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Ocean County Jail standards will be disposed of. No more than three books may be shipped at any one time.
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
