I feel as though when an inmate is department of corrections property and they are being held in hoke county jail i feel that they should already be sent to prison not held at the county jail its nothing but a tax rack up and hoke county treats their inmates unfair if they get in trouble only letting them shower once every 3 days if they are in look back I think someone should do something about this it is totally inhumane to treat ppl this was . the jail is a discrase to the jails of nc

I agree with Lori, this has to be one of the worst places to send someone that needs positive assurance to change and succeed in life. Hoke County treats it's inmates not as humans who have made mistakes but as animals caged for 21 hours of a day. I am unable to send a simple newspaper article about Baseball or the Carolina Panthers to an inmate because it is regarded as contraband. You are not helping these men to become better people, you are simply creating pure hatred. Hoke County treats their inmates inhumanely which in the long run, gives inmates a feeling that laws or law enforcement officers are not there to help them, but only to harass them. They do not respect police because a stay at this place focuses more on punishment than guidance consequently creating enemies between the two.

It is not the jailers nor any law enforcement persons job to make better people out of inmates! Jail is not a job, a loving home, nor friendly social meeting place. It was created for the lawless! Sadly many people wrongly sent to jail. Nevertheless, this does not change the way inmates are treated. One bad inmate spoiled it for all inmates. Don't feel sad for the inmates, pray for the jails to not be weak, and maybe people will decrease being inmates!

Thank you Alex I agree 100% Jail isn't supposed to be a vacation when you break the law.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and with that being said I am a retired C.O. and if it is too comfortable they continue to return. Some say for food, bed, and even the television; they become complacent and that is no good. And trust me as long as there is RESPECT on both sides it will be okay. You don't want to make them feel like they can break the law and this is somewhere they want to be, you don't want them to come back and hopefully they stop that friend, or family member from coming.
