Inmate mailing address for this facility: Inmates name PO Box 2601 Athens, Tx 75751 You must open an account with Infinity Network (866-681-2948) deposit money into the account, also the pin # that inmate will use, for inmate to call. You will have to mail the inmate the calling instructions & pin #. Initial deposit for commissary funds can be done using a kiosk (reverse ATM) at the jail or going to a Moneygram location. I was unable to find a way of doing this via phone or Internet. Hope this is helpful information.

There are really bad and rude people that work at this jail. I am a truck driver broke down and no way to get to see or talk to my fiancee that was locked up while I am out on the road. I have called and they will not let me talk to her to find out if she is ok.

How the hell do you put money on a defendant's books? Your website could be drastically improved and simplified. It looks like it was designed by a high school student struggling for extra credit.

  4. A loving family member Sat, Aug 18 2012 1:18 AM

This hardly answers my questions. A freakin handbook would be to much trouble ay? This page doesnt have enough blogs, and is basically made for nosey rosie and Johnny rubbernecker. Jails very when it comes to inmates rules, what they are allowed to have if anything, do they get to make calls in this facility, and do they need calling cards? Are they allowed to have photoes of loved ones/ friends? How much commisary do they need to have, and what items are offerd in commisary? Just because someone has been charged with a crime does not mean they are guilty. And it might surprize you that some may end up in jail who has never been subjected to the system before or have they family members. There are lots of visitors who have never themselves been to jail as an inmate or visitor. I understand that this is JAIL but you'd think the rules would be more accesable to people.

I have a young son in jail who has an abcessed tooth and when I visited him he looked bad! his face was all swoll up and was in pain. He said all they give is one 200mg iburofen. This infection can get into the blood steam and cause sepsis, whitch can be fatal if untreated. I am poor and bareley able to put money on his books every week. He says its around 100 bucks to see a dr!!! What? So the county conciders him expendable? he has never been in any trouble and has not even been convicted of the crime he was indicted for! I think this matter needs atten NOW! And I will look into it!

Horace Joe Barker is a innocence man. Two trials, both racial. Where was witnesses for the defendant, where was the evidence and he was cleared by CPS. Is it possible this victim was born with herpes and her brother. Why her mother didn't testify? Why wasn't her past question. A lot of unanswered question for the defendant. Life without parole, come on now. Why was the first trial victim didn't tell the truth? Why did her assailant walk free. Innocence until proven guilty. In this case Innocence was over looked. No Justice when you is BLACK in Athens Texas.

This jail is as back wooded as the country bumpkins that work for them . also there only allowed 2 visits per week 30 mins each oh and if u want to come sunday b prepaired to wait 2 hours he said 1 1/2 idk what schools these cops came outta but a hour and half is 2 hours u DUMB FUCKKKKKKKKKKK

  13. dumbcops Sat, Jun 29 2013 11:31 PM

When is visitation for female inmates?

  15. sherri Thu, Jul 25 2013 3:01 PM

I do not know if anyone who really cares read these comments I am not sure there is anyone who cares working at this Athens jail. The only real information you can get is from the professional visitors. They even have their own sign in list so no one gets in line in front of anyone I found out first visit they mean as much business as the guards maybe more. I hate the 3 to 4 hour wait as much as I hate that my son is in there. You must get there 2 hrs before sign in starts and know where you are in the so called line up to sign in be ready to wait 4 to 5 hrs if you are very lucky. The signage in waiting room is 15 years old everyone knows how expensive those little stick on ltrs are. My son has been there for less than a week I have seen him twice he looks really bad and is hungry. I did not know how to get him money until second visit. I have cried everyday and night because I can not get him out for at least 2 more weeks. The people that run that place act like we broke the law right along with our loved ones. They also forget that they are our loved ones. If they screwed up would they want people to treat their mothers, sisters, wives, or fathers the same way they treat us.

  16. Open Their Eyes Lord Sat, Jul 27 2013 5:30 PM

This is a good website to get the information needed on visitation, list of what they can buy and how much it costs and rules and regulations. http://www.hendersoncountydetention.com My prayer is that you understand these employees do have to be tough to work there and it is their job to protect the public. Not ever one in jail is innocent and not every criminal is in jail. If people would work instead of selling drugs or stealing, get high on Lord instead of drugs and alcohol, beat up the bad guys instead of wives and children, allow the schools to correct children that are out o control, if instead of just sedating children with medications to stop them from acting out and get them counseling and anger management help, teach our dughters to respect them selves and to be more independent and not have have sex and a baby with every guy that feeds them a line of crap, teach our sons to respect themselves and others especially the daughters of others, and not to reproduce children the state has to support because they are so lazy and selfish, the welfare system was supposed to help a person get back on their feet not keep girls having babies for a living and lazy bum guys mooching off of these girls for a living and having more children to bring up the same way, if people were taught to respect the laws and not to find every way to break them for a living, maybe there would be less crime and more good hard working people in this world and less angry hard working tax payers that have to carry the load for them. The elderly and disabled persons go hungry and without medication, medical treatment, a good home, transportation and help even bathing because of the criminals and lazy people of this world. I am so sick of hearing how the criminals and lazy bums of this world are so mistreated, they didn't do it, they didn't deserve to be treated that way, they did everything they could, they are being discriminated against, !!!! Get a real job, support your children, get educated on right from wrong, get the Lord in your life and pass it on to the children you are bringing into this world and by the way the Ladies, The State of Texas did not get you pregnant and it is not the responsibility of the State of Texas to raise, feed, cloth and keep your children healthy, it is yours and that lazy bum man you breed with, get educated on child support. If you are getting Snap and Medicaid and Tanf from the State to take care of your children -- You are not supporting your children the hard working tax payers are, get real. Yes we are all just one decision away from being a criminal, a drug addict, an alcoholic, a murderer, a single mother, ++++ Make better decisions+++++ I have children too, I have had family in Jail and Prison, YES they were guilty, if you don't want to be treated the way they treat you don't keep doing what you do that gets you there. Yes I am one of those God Loving people and The Lord says we are to love one another but he also says we are not to keep throwing our Pearls before Swine. The evilness of this world is the devils play ground and the whole world shouldn't have to pay for the ones that choose to play in it.

  17. Ace&Joker Wed, Aug 28 2013 10:46 PM

@OPEN THEIR EYES LORD: yeah here's where I tell u not every one there is a criminal. This whole world is crooked. Open ur eyes jackass. First off my husband is in jail for 'assaualt' because he threw a donut at me when I THREW A BLENDER AT HIM. they say supposedly 'witnesses' say he kicked me in the face. Ha Wtfe there wasn't a mark on me they take pictures. oh yes plz keep them so the judge will see that there is NO PROOF of the supposedly kick to my face. Fuck all them. They don'tt know right from wrong. I told them that he didn't but they didn't care cuz someone call'd wow that's fuck'd up!!!!!! I love you Wesley Bear!!<3

  18. Amanda Sun, Nov 03 2013 10:48 AM

@ open their eyes lord... regardless of if they are innocent or not they still have rights! They are still US citizens, and don't deserve to be treated as if the are shit on the bottom of your shoe! They do not deserve to be starved! For someone who starts off their post with something like that then you should know you are not the one to judge!
