The reason they keep them so long in "Detention" is because the private companies are making money from the Feds. CCA is privatized as are the phone companies that they must call through. So they gonna keep them as long as they can as long as nobody is asking about them.

My husband of 16 years is in Stewart Detention Center. His name is Jose Antonio Quintanilla Mendez. He has been in custody for a total of 3 months between all the facilities they have moved him to and from. I would love to know how long they normally hold someone for immigration? He has no criminal charges and I believe he should not be held this long. Most of the people being held are not criminals, so why are they being treated this way?? Our only mistake is that we didnt have the money to hire an attorney to try to get his green card! And this is the sace for many people I believe!!!! He was told at one facility that he has no rights because he is not an american citizen...There is such a thing, as HUMAN RIGHTS!!!!! Hey Immigration, you want him out of our country...so send him already!!! So I can go to El Salvador and be reunited with my husband! I am ashamed to be a citizen of a country that would separate families! My daughter cries every day because we dont know the fate of her dad! God Bless the USA!? Yea right!!!!!!!!!!!!

I totally understand that there are laws that everyone has to go by here in this country but what i don't understand is ICE understands totally what the famalies of these people go through. We probably suffer more than they do in many ways. I have tried to get information from the stewart detention center quite a few times about my boyfriend. He has only been there a week, everytime I talk to his deportation officer she says, "I don't know maam, I can't tell you that maam, I'm not with the court maam" such a smart ass about it and absolutely NO help! They act like everything is TOP SECRET! They are full of it! It is against federal law for a county jail to hold a person for longer than 48 hours, you can file a lawsuit, they held my bofriend for 58 hours and as I complained and demanded they release him, I gave all the info, read them the law and they told me to wait in the lobby while they "check on that" I waited an hour and then ICE came off the elevator to say he was going with them!!! The whole system is messed up!! I just want his deportation to go quickly so I can follow him to mexico!

Immigrations is all about money they dont care about the fact there splitting up families. my husband is from the UK and is a legal alien card holder. immigrations is trying to now deport him! I am an american citzen and so is our son. i think it is ridiculous they are trying to split up a family. i feel that there basically telling 2 american citizzens to leave the country also being as my son isnt going to live without his father and if they deport him we'll have to move also. Immigrations are a law in there own and there treating people like animals they dont care! hopefully they will release him but i dont think its fair that they 1 have him almost 9 hours away from home in stewart detention facility and 2 he is put in there with all types of criminals and i could tell in his voice he was nervous! he has also been in custody with ice for a week now and has been charged with NOTHING!!! Im so ready for this to be over with!
