Am trying to help my nephew who will be released from Federal to State in 2012. Does he come here and you determine where he will be sent? Does he apply for residence where he would like to be? He has a long sentence and is Non-violent sex offender. I can not locate any helpful information on your processing center. How do your inmate phone privilages work? What type of mail can they receive? what are they allowed to bring with them when they transfer? Your assistance is apprecaited.

  2. Roberta Anderson Fri, Jan 21 2011 9:46 AM

  10. Jamie Sat, Apr 28 2012 9:24 AM

Why are they sent there in the first place? who decides or makes the decision on what inmate gets transferred here? Is it to determine what facility they belong in? What type of "DIAGNOSTICS" is done.I am not quite sure what the sole purpose of this facility is about. Does anyone familiar with the Indiana Court/Jail system have information? Thank-you

  11. Susan Wed, May 09 2012 3:22 PM

Can you send paper, envelopes and stamps to an inmate in RDC?

  12. Nunya Sun, Jun 24 2012 7:39 PM

They are sent there to get processed and evaluated so they can put them in the best prison for them. Some prisons are full. It's just a part of the process.

  13. Jenn Marie Sun, Jun 24 2012 10:53 PM

My boyfriend has already been to prison before and has a DOC # but on his IDOC info online it says he is central office Admin Inbound... does that mean he still has to go to RDC or will they send him straight to a prison?

  14. isa Wed, Jun 27 2012 3:53 PM

All males that are sentenced to prison, go to RDC first, they are evaluated there and it is decided which prison they will go in.

  15. mary Fri, Jul 27 2012 3:35 PM

Someone told me we can send paper and stamps and envelopes to an inmate in rdc, is this true?

  16. Mary Fri, Jul 27 2012 3:50 PM

You do not have to be on a list to write them, after they are sent to where they are going, there is a phone list and a visitor's list. In order to send money to them thru jpay, you have to be on the visitation list.In RDC, you can write to them, but they cannot call you, nor can you visit. They can be at RDC up to 45 days.

  22. Anita Elmore Fri, Mar 15 2013 8:33 PM

How do I send money to someone at RDC. My boyfriend was just transferred there and sent a letter asking for money. I know he had money on his books before he left I thought that would go with him to use in RDC and Prison.

  23. Rochelle Beamer Mon, Mar 18 2013 8:49 PM

Jpay is how. Need their doc number. But no clue how long it takes to get to them. Their money from jail takes at least 6 weeks to transfer. They can't call. No visitation. My bro has thirty days left and they took him from Wayne co to rdc with only that left. We have yet to receive a letter. My mom is very concerned by this. Glad to hear someone got one. What was the date on the letter if u don't mind me asking. I read somewhere that rdc only sends out inmate mail on Fridays. But not sure if that's true. Wish there was a website with real info for the rdc.

  24. JOANI Thu, Apr 11 2013 12:23 AM

Can somebody give me some accurate info on all this?!?!

  36. PrisonWife Thu, Oct 03 2013 2:48 AM

RDC is a maximum security facility where you are held until sent to prison. I have known people to stay anywhere from 9 days on up, usually no more than 45 but not guaranteed. There are two sides. One side is worse than the other. It is a luck based thing which side you end up on when you enter. While you are there you will receive all your medical testing for diseases and such. Also, they score you on a point system to find out the best prison placement. They do psychiatric evaluations and they will ask for the 3 places that you would LIKE to go, which doesn't mean you will get any of them. Unfortunately, my husband is in there now. This is my second prison sentence with him.

  37. PrisonWife Thu, Oct 03 2013 2:54 AM

and... you can not send anything to them other than letters. By the way, when you send prison letters and have your children draw or color pictures, it has to be marker or colored pencil. No crayon. They will not be able to call anyone until they get to prison, and then they usually have to wait another week or so, depending on which prison they are at. Each inmate has to make a phone list and a visitation list before they are allowed to do each.

  38. Elizabeth Tue, Oct 22 2013 7:43 PM

My boyfriend is suppose to be released from a county jail and the guard told him that community corrections would come and get him... He's suppose to be put on house arrest in new to this so any help would be helpful

Bobbie,All of PrisonWife's info is right. NO PHONE-CALLS and NO VISITATION! My son has been at RDC for about 3 1/2wks. Got address from web site, started writing letters right then. haven't had any problems with mail. he said after about ten days the "BLUES", start kicking in. Now I'm trying to find out where they sent him. Got letter on Sat., he said he was going to New Castle, but other web site said Puntumville.
