The Kern County Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility in Bakersfield, Kern County, California, like all jails is a maximum security facility. Because the inmates in this jail range from low level offenders to those being held for violent crimes like robbery, rape and murder, the security level is as high as is it is in any maximum security state prison. Some of the security features in this facility include security cameras, electronic detection and reinforced fencing topped with razor wire. Correctional officers in Kern County Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility are armed with mace and trained to use physical force to protect themselves and other inmates from violence.

The men, women and juveniles being held in the Kern County Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility are either awaiting trial or have been sentenced in the Kern County Court System already and been sentenced to a period of time of one year or less. When an inmate is sentenced to a year or more, they are admitted into the California Prison or Federal Prison System. Inmates in the Kern County Lerdo Pre-Trial Facility are fed three meals a day totaling 2,500 calories, are allowed access to phones to contact friends and family members, are allowed at least one hour a day for exercise, have access to books, bathroom and shower facilities. The inmates are allowed mail to be delivered to them as well as newspapers and magazine from trusted outside publishers.

The other jail facilities in Kern County, California are: Kern County Central Receiving Fac., Kern County Lerdo Max-Med Security Fac., Kern County Lerdo Minimum Security Fac., Kern County Work Release Center, Mojave Jail, Ridgecrest Jail. In addition, Kern County houses the following juvenile facilities: Kern County Juvenile Camp Erwin Owen, Kern County Juvenile Crossroads Fac., Kern County Juvenile Furlough T.R., Kern County Juvenile Hall, Kern County Juvenile Pathways Academy.

    My fiancé went into lerdo mentally ok she came out mentally I'll it took her a month to stop running away from home she would look all around her like some one was going to get her she told me she was sexually assaulted by a lerdo chaplain thiseas the worst thing to find out she was forced to have oral sex and he touched her breast she was abused in lerdo I bailed her out for 100000 grand just to have her go back there waiting to go to prison on a three year sentence I have no faith in lerdo detention center it made the women I love a different person I got a call from her she told me she was affaid I hope someone stands up and tell someone about this sexual predtador
