the rutherford co. jail is the worst in tenn.and got even worse when robert r. arnold took over. he has droped the cost of feeding an inmate from 1.80 a to .80 a day. and its gettig worse!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. c Thu, Jun 21 2012 3:52 PM

my boyfriend has one pair of underwear, one jumpsuit, and no pillow. There are some men sleeping in the floors and the drunk tank had an overbearing amount of men in it for days standing shoulder to shoulder. I hear all the time that the men in there would rather go to the penn. That's sad. Just because they got in trouble doesn't mean they deserve to only eat what i like to call bird feed and get lied to about court dates. I feel sorry for all those with loved ones in 940.

  4. Derry Sat, Sep 15 2012 4:55 PM

Why can't I find out why an inmate is in for? This should be easily accessed without having to go through a pay service..

  5. Never free Mon, Oct 01 2012 8:03 PM

It is true I just came out of 940 and the workhouse. The women are housed in a part of the Jail that has been condemned for years.940 dose not even have a kitchen the work house has to cook their food and take it to them. When I left 940 all the cells were full and 6 to 10 women were sleeping in the day room. Sad that Rutherford Co. is so money hungry that they refuse to allow inmates 2 for 1. Were is the police, fire fighters, codes and health dept. when you need them? Somebody needs to shut they asses down.

  6. mikayla Sun, Oct 14 2012 8:49 PM

My boyfriend is in 940, he said it is the worst jail in Tennessee. But why can't I find a website to look up his mugshot and charges??

  7. carly Sat, Dec 15 2012 6:16 PM

My man was in 940 and they are so over-populated. They raised prices on commissary TWICE in ONE WEEK. Not only that misdemeanor inmates are locked up with rapists and murderers. That makes no sense to put a person with EVERYTHING to lose with someone else who has NOTHING to lose. I've heard time and time again men say they'd rather go to the penitentiary.

  8. Shelly Sun, Feb 03 2013 10:50 PM

I just got out of 940 and dat place is horrid. They finally got a kitchen I guess dats good if u like playdoh biscuits!? But their chicken taco salad kicked ass tho Ha!!! Medical doesn't listen to any1... Where da women stay was suppose to be condemned now they got women all over there in every pod & cell plus the day rooms. Over flowin in there 4real!!! Da police on da womens side most of them are BEYOND MEAN calling people "fkn stupid" & just giving us 5mins to eat... If they don't get their way its hell to pay 4real & ain't NOTHING u can do about it bc they control everything. Best thing if u ever get locked up there pray u know sum1 wit $$$ to buy sum snacks & thermals bc its COOOLLLLDDDD!!! Their boilers are broke I think they have 1 left its on da internet.

  9. steve french Sun, Feb 17 2013 12:10 AM

Quit bitchin...its your own damn fault you were in there....ya ignorant fucks!

  10. Judy Sat, Apr 06 2013 3:40 PM

It seems to me...if the jail conditions are so bad, all you criminals would straighten up so you wouldn't have to go there again. I think they must like it or they wouldn't keep going back. Jail is NOT supposed to be a luxury hotel ya know....be thankful you don't have to sleep on a cold floor, and only have bread and water to eat. I don't feel a bit sorry for anyone in jail. If I can be a law abiding citizen and not get arrested and put in jail, anybody can. Come on people....get your heart and soul right with God and straighten up.

  11. Me Wed, Apr 17 2013 8:34 PM

  12. ConcernedGF Fri, May 31 2013 1:52 PM

My boyfriend was taken to 940 yesterday (5-30-13) and has a court date sat for 6-26-13. I am wanting to put money in his account for him. Does anyone know about how much he will need for a month? He is definitely used to the "finer" things in life, so I want to make sure he has plenty of money for the things he needs first and foremost and secondly for any extras he may be able to buy. If anyone has any suggestions, please, let me know. Thanks!

  13. PL Sun, Jun 23 2013 4:41 PM

I was put in seg and it was so HOT that me and my cell mate both walked around either naked or with our towel tied around us I would get my towel wet and wrap it around my head to keep me cool. I have my period very 28 days like clock work but for some reason started early (I've read that 70% of women dot have. Period In jail bc of all the concrete i dont know if that's true I don't know why but I think it's from the food every one that know that goes to 940 for more thn just. A week gets these tiny little umps all over there face chest the back of their arms their Back and the bumps are dry and rough and not just a few it's hundred and it takes months to get them to go away its disgusting!! But SEG wAs SO HOT it that I seriously thought I was going to have a stroke normally its freezing the cell had black spots on ceiling that to mold to me and around the corners of the ceiling the wall was chipping off and coroding away I imagine if someone wanted to break out they could just chisel there way out it was ridiculous I know if the health dept seen this they would probably evacuate the jail I'm not stupid I know jail is t meant to be like staying in a luxury hotel it's punishment but it should not jeapordize someone's health!!

  14. PL Sun, Jun 23 2013 4:51 PM

Oh about the period I only had one of pair of pantys and i started my period like two weeks early in the middle of the night they wouldn't let buy more because I wouldn't be there long enough and they wouldn't give me more pantys so I had to wash them repeatedly and either wear them wet bc I had to wear a pad. So you could only imagine DISGUSTING!!

  15. noway Tue, Jul 09 2013 5:04 PM

I'm pregnant and I'm honestly afraid to turn my self in.

  16. fedupwthrthrfrdcnty Fri, Jul 12 2013 10:23 AM

Noway... Don't turn yourself in while your pregnant this place is horrible I don't see how someone hasn't got in trouble for the condition of this place and what they feed and how they treat inmates. In no way am I defending anyone that breaks the law but this place is really bad. Probably equivalent to being a prisoner of war somewhere

  17. girlwithapoint Tue, Jul 16 2013 6:30 AM

y'all really need to stop complaining about how bad they are you did the crime now you have to pay the consequences I Went To940 And seriously its not supposed to be a hotel I was only in there for 6 hours and I don't ever want to go back I definitely learned my lesson if you don't want to go to 940 and you hate it so much then don't do anything to go back to jail stop being so damn stupid

  18. Scott Sat, Aug 24 2013 2:02 PM

Okay people. Did any of you consider that not everyone in there is GUILTY of a crime? I wish those who posted the comments about getting what one deserved had to take a ride in this place.....

  19. Purplelf Sat, Sep 14 2013 5:11 PM

You all are complaining about the conditions of the jail.... here is a novel idea DON'T DO ANYTHING TO HAVE TO GO TO JAIL!!!!!. I've managed to live my entire life without having to go to jail. It's easy. You get a job, you keep said job, you go to work, you go home and on the weekends have fun but don't break the law. Yeah that is probably boring for most but at least I'm not having to complain about the conditions of the jail. If you want to stay in a resort then you should not break the law. Anyone else notice that everyone complaining can't spell or use proper English???????

  20. Billhy Sun, Sep 22 2013 8:57 PM

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but not at 940. The officers are corrupt. No human being should be treated the way they are.

  21. lilly Thu, Oct 03 2013 11:45 AM

Equivalent to being a prisoner of war somewhere? wow. What a genius. Probably not. Maybe your food sucks, maybe it's cold, maybe even a little hostile. But that is nothing compared to what POW's go through. If you want to compare the two, go offer yourself as a POW and come back and tell us your experience. I assure you it'll be worse there than it is here.

  22. reallypissedoffmommy Tue, Oct 22 2013 1:54 AM

I myself am thrilled to read the conditions of this place.Someone molested my child and is serving his sentence out so this is great news to me !!!I am giggling as I type.I guess if you don't like the conditions don't do the crime in Rutherford County.I hope he has a wonderfully endowed room mate as well if you get my drift.Yes it would suck if you are innocent but it serves its purpose if you did the crime,it's called hard time for a reason. You could be working on chain gangs.

  23. morgan Sun, Dec 15 2013 5:27 PM

just a thought for those of you saying its your fault, don't break the law and you won't go back, not a hotel etc etc.. no one that has been or is in jail thinks they should be treatedlike kings or queens, but what IS the truth is that the inmates are abused, not fed as much as they should, and the facility is a health risk. There's black mold and they're extremely overpopulated. Also, its actually against the law federally btw, to house minor offenders with more serious ones like murderers and rapists.. you never know, one da you could make a mistake and have to take a "vacation" there also..

  24. feel your pain Sun, Jan 12 2014 11:56 AM

I would have to say a lot of people get arrested for stupid things. It takes forever for booking and the fact that you don't get your money back for bond is ridiculous. Here in Nebraska you get all but 10% of your bond back. That is how it should be in Tennessee and you don't have to have a "BOND AGENT" to get you out. I did some time at 940 which I agree is a shithole! I got railroaded by them being my first time getting into trouble and didn't know what to do. I had no way to contact a public defender if that would have helped anyways. But it opened a revolving door. Once you're in the system you're in. No matter how hard you try to stay out of trouble you are still labeled as a criminal. It has been 10 years since my incarceration and I am still paying for the trouble I had got into and you know what it wasn't even a big deal but they made it out to be and also slapped me with a huge fine that almost close to impossible to pay and not to mention a probation violation because the women at the courthouse giving urine tests wanted to go to lunch and didn't want to wait for me to use the restroom I couldn't go in 10 minutes...sorry so they gave me 90 days for failure to produce. CAN WE SAY RAILROADED!

not everyone is guilty so please jerks hold your self rightous BS. My family member was not notified of a court date and of course wasn't there. he turned himself in and was held without bond . DA won't return calls to the lawyer. my family member was ok until i got him some ecigs at jailcigs.com. when those came in he was not ok. extortion, bullying, threatening, intimidation... do without the ecigs and maybe you will fare better in there. citi tele coin is the place to add minutes to your cell so your loved one can call 5 calls for $27. 15 min each. these people are actually nice. touch pay is the online place to add money to an inmates account. touchpaydirect.com just be glad when he gets before a judge and is granted bond on this misdeameanor charge. already 20 days in jail for NO REASON. i hate corrupt people and the sad thing is WE ELECT the jerks!!!! They promise this and that, and we think we will never need the penal system, but you never know when YOUR LOVED one may end up in this cess pool so you better be careful what you say when you have no earthly idea what "we" are going thru. It may be you one day. and for God's sake spread the word and vote OUT the current DA. He is not doing this town any favors.
