ABOUT Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility

The Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility in the city of Visalia, Tulare County, California is a maximum-security facility. Because the inmates in this jail range from low level, misdemeanor offenders to those being held for violent crimes like robbery, rape and murder, the security level has to be as high as is it would be in any maximum-security state prison. 

Some of the security features in this facility include security cameras, electronic detection and reinforced fencing topped with razor wire. Correctional officers in Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility are armed with mace and trained to use physical force to protect themselves and other inmates from violence. 

The men and women being held in the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility are either awaiting trial or have been sentenced in the Tulare County Court System already and been sentenced to one year or less. 

When an inmate is sentenced to a year or more, they are transferred to the California State Prison or the Federal Bureau of Prisons

The inmates are allowed mail to be delivered to them as well as newspapers and magazines from trusted outside publishers.

Family and Friends of inmates are allowed to schedule a time to visit.
