Methamphetamine (meth) use is on the rise in Georgia, especially among high school students and young people in general.
The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency tracks drug trends in schools, and as more information is collected, it’s obvious that the Most Wanted drug felons are moving their product in cities and now in rural areas, too.
The dealers used car tire stores as fronts to sell their drugs. To catch them, Operation Spider Web was formed to catch these criminals in Georgia and elsewhere in the US.
Operation Spider Web was run by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies (FBI, DEA, ICE, ATF, Sheriffs and others). It was created to capture some of the wanted dealers known to be spreading meth and heroin around Georgia, and especially in Atlanta. In 2021, over $10 million was seized, along with large quantities of drugs and weapons, as part of this effort. Fifteen people were charged with trafficking in these drugs and weapons.

There are only 64 beds in the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center. Most of the men and women incarcerated here are awaiting trial or waiting for their case to be heard by the White County Court.
It's a fact that the court can only handle a limited number of criminal cases per day, most of these being the initial arraignment, technicalities, continuences, etc. Only a few cases per day are actually resolved with either a plea deal or the culmination of a trial. The fact is that very few cases ever go to trial; each trial can take several days, weeks or even months. Even after a trial has been resolved, there is still the sentencing phase which can take months to resolve.
Given all this, if every person arrested demanded a full trial, forcing the Prosecutor to investigate and prepare a case against them, choosing a jury and going through the entire process allowed each person under the Constitution, which can take months or even years, the courts would be completely overwhelmed within a few weeks.
Since every person has the right to a speedy trial, within 90 days according to the law, the courts would have no option but to release everyone arrested except for the most violent of offenders.

Additional Information: Gerard Boguslaw Zalewski is wanted for failing to appear at his March 29, 2006, sentencing hearing for committing involuntary deviant sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old female victim in June 2004, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. On November 14, 2004, Zalewski pled guilty to one count of attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse. Zalewski failed to appear at a March 29, 2006, sentencing hearing. He was sentenced in absentia to serve 5 to 20 years in a state correctional institution and was given until March 31, 2006, to turn himself in. When he did not appear, a local arrest warrant was issued for Zalewski by the County of Montgomery, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Norristown, Pennsylvania, after he was charged with default in required attendance. On May 15, 2006, a federal arrest warrant was issued for Zalewski by the United States District Court, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid confinement for involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and unlawful flight to avoid prosecution for failure to appear for confinement on those charges.

Additional Information: Cesar Leonidas ABREU, a 39-year-old citizen of the Dominican Republic, is a convicted aggravated felon who was removed from the United States in September 2012. Additional Information: KANSAS CITY, Missouri — In June 2005, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Kansas City opened an investigation into Giant Labor Solutions (GLS), after receiving information that two Uzbek nationals were operating a labor service business and employing illegal aliens. This HSI-led investigation expanded to include the following agencies: FBI, Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, Kansas Department of Revenue, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. This ad hoc task force pursued the GLS conspiracy for the next four years. GLS was indicted in May 2009 in the Western District of Missouri for forced labor trafficking and fraud in foreign labor contracting, the first application of these statutes in the United States. The principle target of the GLS investigation – Abrorkhodja Askarkhodjaev – and others were arrested in May 2009 in Brooklyn, New York, as he prepared to flee the country. At the same time, more than 40 human trafficking victims were rescued in Kansas City and St. Louis, Missouri; Casper, Wyoming; Panama City, Florida; Fairfax County, Virginia; and Overland Park, Kansas. Three of the indicted members of the conspiracy – Sandjar Agzamov, Nodir Yunusov, and Rustamjon Shukurov – fled from the United States and remain fugitives. In January 2010, a 127-count superseding indictment charged the GLS conspirators with 59 counts of forced labor trafficking and 20 counts of fraud in foreign labor contracting.
