Following these instructions exactly will enhance your chances of getting official approval to visit an inmate.
It is highly recommended that prior to an inmate visit you call the jail at 619-671-4400 to confirm that visits have not been cancelled.
It is strongly recommended that you attend the Parent Orientation before your first visit.
Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your scheduled visit.
Bring a valid, government-issued photo ID.
Only parents or legal guardians are permitted to visit.

The San Diego Co.-East Mesa Juvenile staff will turn anyone away who is not dressed appropriately for a visit.
The best way to be sure the visit takes place is to dress as if you are meeting someone's grandmother for the first time.
Wear clothes that are not revealing.
Don't wear see-through material.
Have all undergarments covered (males and females) and avoid a lot of cleavage.
