Sign in and show your government-issued, valid photo ID.

Successfully clear contraband searches or detectors as requested.



Who Can Visit an Inmate in Clayton County Jail

Anyone over the age of 18, can produce a valid government-issued photo ID can be approved to visit an inmate in this jail.

This jail allows visitors who are on probation or parole to visit inmates.

If you are on probation or parole it is important to get permission from your supervising officer to visit an inmate before your first visit. Not doing so could violate your terms of supervision and you could end up arrested. Probation/parole officers often scan through past visitation sign in sheets at the jail to see if anyone they supervise came to visit an inmate without permission. 

Visitation applicants in Clayton County must sometimes submit to a background check. Those with warrants are denied visitation or if allowed to visit, will be arrested at the jail.

Jails limit the number of people that can visit an inmate to four adults each visit.

Children under age 18 must be accompanied by the parent or legal guardian. You must bring a birth certificate or proof of guardianship for each child.

The Clayton County Jail reserves the right to deny any person the right to enter the jail it chooses and for any reason.

Clayton County Jail requires all visitors to produce a proper ID and to check in at the visitation desk prior to the visit.

8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Tuesday

8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Wednesday

8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Thursday

8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Friday

8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.

General population inmates are allowed one visit per week with up to four visitors at the visit.
Inmates in the honor dorms are allowed two visits per week with up to four visitors each visit.

Visits are 30 minutes long.

If you are visiting from another state or travelling a great distance, Clayton County Jail may allow you an extended visitation. Call 770-477-4413 to ask for special consideration. 



Clayton County Jail Visitation Dress Code

The Clayton County Jail staff will turn anyone away who is not dressed appropriately for a visit.

The best way to be sure the visit takes place is to dress as if you are meeting someone's grandmother for the first time. 

If you are wearing any of the following your visit will be denied. You will not be allowed to change and come back for that visit.

Sheer, mesh, netted (fish net style) or see thru clothing.


Sleeveless, spaghetti straps or tank top attire.

Coats, hats, jackets or hoodies. Exception, hoodies and jackets may be worn if they are a matching set. (i.e., sweat suit, business suit, denim suit, etc.)

Clothing worn to hide inappropriate garments.

Shorts, skirts, skorts, or slit dresses; more than two (2) inches above the knees.

Leggings, spandex or tights worn as pants.

Low cut tops (Men and Women) to include exposure of cleavage, mid-drift, belly button and buttocks areas.

SAGGY/SAGGING pants. Pants will be worn at the waist.

Jeans with excessive holes, rips, and/or tears.

Red, Orange or Yellow jumpsuits, or any clothing which is similar to Inmate Clothing



Clayton County Jail Visitation Tips, Rules and Guidelines

Jail visits are conducted in person behind plexi-glass or on a televised screen from another location.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and guardians must provide proof of their guardianship.

Leave all personal belongings, except for your state ID in your vehicle or in a locker (if one is provided).

Children must be monitored at all times or jail staff will end the visit early.
