Lake County Jail Visiting Hours, Schedule and Instructions


Step 1

Be sure the inmate placed you on the visitation list for approved visitors.

Step 2

Click here to schedule either an at-home video visit or a video visit at the jail. You must register for a free account and be approved by the jail before you begin scheduling visits.

Step 3

Get signed on or arrive at Lake County Community Based Correctional Facility 15 S. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave. Waukegan, IL 60085 no later than 10 minutes before your schedule visit.



Who Can Visit an Inmate in Lake County Jail

Anyone over the age of 18, who can produce a valid government-issued photo ID can be approved to visit an inmate in this jail.

Visitation applicants in Lake County must sometimes submit to a background check. Those with warrants are denied visitation or if allowed to visit, will be arrested at the jail.

Jails limit the number of people that can visit an inmate to two adults each visit.

Children under age 18 must be accompanied by the parent or legal guardian.

If you and the inmate are under a court order to have no contact with each other, your visit will be denied.

Lake County Jail Visitation Dress Code

The Lake County Jail staff will turn anyone away who is not dressed appropriately for a visit.

The best way to be sure the visit takes place is to dress as if you are meeting someone's grandmother for the first time. 

Wear clothes that are not revealing.

Don't wear see-through material.

Have all undergarments covered (males and females) and avoid a lot of cleavage.

Shorts and skirts should reach mid-thigh.

Sleeves should be at least half-way to your elbow.

The following types of clothing are also prohibited:

Clothing promoting gang affiliation.

Anything displaying drugs, weapons or profanity.

Clothing depicting anything obscene.

Lake County Jail Visitation Tips, Rules and Guidelines

Each inmate can receive one (1) non-contact, on-site, thirty (30) minute visit per week free of charge. This visit can occur after the inmate has been classified.            

You may visit the same inmate only once per day.

The inmate must have the visitor on their approved visitors list in order to visit.  Additions to the visitor list must be completed prior to scheduling the visit.

All visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Walk in visits will not be authorized.

Visits may be cancelled in the event of a facility emergency.

All visitors entering the visitation area are subject to search and may be checked for active warrants.
