Westmoreland County Prison Visiting Hours, Schedule and Instructions

Step 1

Be sure you are on the inmate’s visitation list.

Step 2

Park in the visitor lot (Left side of facility). If it is full you must park at the bottom of the hill (Manor). If you park anywhere but these two places, your visiting privileges can be suspended for an indefinite amount of time and you might receive a ticket.

Step 3

Do not arrive earlier than 45 minutes before your visitation time.

Step 4

You must secure all personal items in a locker that is provided by the jail. Anything you do not wish to put in a locker or will not fit in a locker must be left in your vehicle.

Step 5

Show a valid, government-issued photo ID such as a driver’s license, passport, military ID or student photo ID. The ID will be scanned into the jail’s computer system to search for warrants, criminal history status, etc. Any refusal to have your ID scanned will result in your visit being denied and you being asked to leave the jail property.

Step 6

Pass through the contraband detection machine and if asked submit to a search. There will be K-9 units used sometimes.

Westmoreland County Prison Visitation Tips, Rules and Guidelines

Except where noted, each inmate is allowed one visit per authorized visitation day.

Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and guardians must provide proof of their guardianship.

Children must be monitored at all times or jail staff will end the visit early.

An inmate may have up to five approved friends on a visiting list. In addition, the inmate may request approval for immediate family members to include mother, father, siblings, grandparents, step-parents, children,  father or mother-in law.

Call 724-830-6000 or click here to go to the jail's official website for additional Rules regarding Westmoreland County Prison visitation.

'At Home' Video Visitation

Many jails are implementing video visits. These visits are conducted via the Internet on computers, IPADS and Smart phones.

Video visits allow the visit to take place in the privacy of your own home. Some family members 'take their inmate with them' to church, the park, the doctor or anywhere else simply by signing in and bringing the device along.

Video visits save you from having to get your children ready, drive to the jail, wait in long lines and go through security checkpoints just to see the inmate.

Video visitation is slowly gaining favor with all jails in America as jail management realizes the financial savings and reduced security risks involved with remote visitation.
