When mailing a letter or postcard to an inmate, please address your mail as follows:

Failure to include your return address will most likely result in your mail NOT being delivered and your letter destroyed.

Type of Mail Allowed for Harris County Juvenile Justice Center

Postcards & Letters

The Harris County Juvenile Justice Center  allows letters, postcards and photos from approved individuals only. All other mail will be discarded by staff members.

To get on the approved mailing list call 713-222-4600 and ask to speak to the caseworker. In most cases, only immediate family will be allowed to mail letters to the resident, but each person is decided on a case-by-case basis.  

If approved, mail letters to:

Envelope/postcard must include a complete return address including sender’s first and last name or it will be rejected by staff members.

Letter containing inappropriate discussions/suggestions such as violence, escape, security risk.

Musical cards

Pens

Blank envelopes

Food items

Personal hygiene items

Anything that is inappropriate as deemed by staff

Residents at this facility can receive photographs as long as they do not depict: violence, drugs, weapons, pornographic/lewd images or anything deemed inappropriate by staff members.



Important Mail Tips

Remember letters can only be received by approved family members.

Impersonating a family member in a letter could cause staff to ban all incoming letters to the resident and in rare cases cause you to be charged with a crime.
