Report: Man assaulted, robbed at gunpoint outside Spartanburg restaurant

Spartanburg police are investigating after a man said he was struck in the head and robbed at gunpoint by two men Sunday night in a Spartanburg parking lot, according to an incident report.

At 10:03 p.m. Sunday, police went to Hickory Tavern on Fernwood Drive in reference to a robbery, the report stated. When they arrived, they found a man holding a towel to his head.

The man told officers he was in the parking lot of the restaurant when two men with guns approached him, the report stated. The man said one of them struck him in the head with a gun before they took his gold Rolex watch.

Police noticed the towel the man was holding to his head was soaked with blood and there was blood on his pants, the report stated. EMS took the man to the hospital.

Officers went to the man’s car in the parking lot, where he said he was assaulted, and saw there was blood on the vehicle, the report stated. There was also blood under the driver-side door and a trail of blood leading from the car to the restaurant.
