About the Middlesex County Correction Center
New Brunswick, Middlesex, has a long history of progressing and leading the way in the jails that they built. The unified Department of Corrections was created in 1978, and the new Adult Corrections Center opened shortly after, in 1984. The facility uses the direct supervision method which has officers directly within the housing units and in direct contact with the inmates. The sprawling building has several housing units and meets the needs of more than one security level, allowing for each inmate to have their specific needs met. Within the facility the staff focus on integrity, safety, security, efficiency, and preparedness. Each law enforcement officer wears a body camera which holds both the staff and the inmates responsible for their own actions, and helps to improve the sense of safety within the location. Phone calls are provided by gtl.net, and an account can be created to allow friends and family to receive calls from an inmate while they are incarcerated, but they will be unable to call the inmate directly. Visits are also provided to help inmates to stay in contact with their loved ones, and these must be planned ahead to ensure that the inmate will be available at the correct time. Visiting hours are posted on the website and video visits are available Wednesday and Friday from 12:30 pm to 3:15 pm and again from 5pm to 7:20pm, while Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday the hours are 8am to 10:30am and 12pm to 2:30pm. Two visits are permitted for each inmate each week, and the hours are for all inmates with no restriction based on housing or last names. Visits are 15 minutes or longer, and video visitation is available within the lobby of the jail for those who are unable to visit from home, and on video from a remote location for those who are unable to attend the jail.

Recent Bookings & Arrests

What is the booking process for the Middlesex County Correction Center?

After being arrested, the offender is brought to the Middlesex County Correction Center for booking, which is the detailed process of identifying, classifying, deciding on charges, and whether the person will either be released on their own recognizance, allowed to be released on bail, or moved into the jail until their court date.

The first thing every newly arrested person must do is close their mouth. Everything an offender says may be used against them, so the best thing to do is remain silent when questioned about the arrest and what led to it.

These are the steps of booking someone into the Middlesex County Correction Center:

  • Personal identification.
  • Mugshot(s).
  • Questions about medical history, mental health, drug and alcohol use, and gang affiliations.
  • Possible DNA.
  • Full body search.
  • Property forfeiture.
  • Free phone call.

If you have any questions about when you can pay an offender's bond and what the cost will be, call the facility at 732-297-3636.

Inmate Bail and Bonding

How do you pay bail for someone who has been arrested in Middlesex County?

When an offender is arrested and brought to the Middlesex County Correction Center in North Brunswick for booking, there are several outcomes after being processed.

1. The offender will be released with no bail, promising to return on a specific date to appear before a judge in either Municipal or Middlesex County Court.
2. The offender is ordered to remain in jail until their court date.
3. The offender is allowed to be released after paying a specified bond or bail.  Call 732-297-3636 to get the exact amount.

The payment of an offender's bail or bond can take many shapes.

  • A cash bond is paid in full at the jail's bonding window or the clerk of court, usually by cash, cashier's check or money order, and many jails also take debit or credit cards through a lobby kiosk or an online bond vendor for an added fee; bring the inmate's full name and booking number, and the jail's number is 732-297-3636.
  • It can be paid using a bail company, licensed to do business in Middlesex County.
  • Many courts accept land or a home as bond collateral; the owner shows clear title and equity of at least the bond amount, often double, using a deed and a recent tax or appraisal value, and the court that set bail approves the property.
