The Cayuga County Sheriff is responsible for the operation and care of the Cayuga County Jail and all offenders who are housed within it.

There is a full staff for the maximum security 214 bed facility, and it has been updated to the most recent standards for technology and security measures.

A staff of nurses, cooks, and custody officers are those who provide the most direct care and services, with a support staff to ensure the facility is operational around the clock and all inmate needs are cared for.

People who are located here are either charged with a crime and waiting for bail or their trial, in trial or awaiting their sentencing, or have been sentenced to a period of incarceration. Those who violate parole or are being transferred to other facilities will remain here until the transportation has been arranged.

A kiosk is available in the lobby around the clock for a small deposit fee, or money may be deposited.

Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Cayuga County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
