They are created as direct supervision pods, allowing officers to be inside the housing units with inmates to encourage positive social interactions, caring for their own space, and interfering early if any issues arise.
It is a state of the art facility that is 134,000 square feet and has advanced security features, single and double cells, and it replaced the century old facility that was facing closure.
Within the new Sullivan County Jail there is space for both indoor and outdoor recreations, areas for social interactions, games, and entertainment, access to phones, mail, and visits, and a medical wing for all medical, dental, and mental health services that are needed.

How do you know if your Inmate will be available during the time you schedule?

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Sullivan County Jail allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Sullivan County Jail standards will be disposed of.
