Madison County Juvenile Detention Center

The Madison County Juvenile Detention Center houses youth offenders who are waiting for the court date, sentence, or who are serving a sentence they have been provided. Incarceration is a last choice for youth offenders, and there are several other options including probation, community service, in home treatments, rehabilitation for substance abuse, and special school programs for those who are unable to unwilling to successfully attend a regular school program. Upon arrival there is a 72 hour time frame for the first appearance to occur, and this will determine if the youth will remain in the facility until their sentencing, or if they will be permitted to return home. If other options are not suitable or have already been tried, than a young offender can be sentenced to serve time in the detention facility and participate in programs and classes that will help to manage anger and other emotions, continue education, and treat any medical or mental health concerns.
