About the Valdez City Jail
The Valdez City Jail in Alaska is a direct supervision correctional center located at 206 Pioneer Drive. It has a capacity of 11 people and consists of 8 jail cells. It houses both male and female inmates, and inmates can receive mail from the U.S Postal services, make phone calls from the prison facility, and have visitors on Thursdays. Visiting hours, mailing address information and inmate search information can be found on their website. Inmates are allowed up to 10 minutes of visitation with a maximum of two visitors (one visitor at a time) and are not allowed to contact other offenders or those in other Alaska jails without approval. Inmates can receive money through JPay and Western Union. The Valdez City Police Department has an In Custody List on their website, where visitors can view the custody report of all inmates held in the jail. It is unique in that it is small, with only 8 jail cells, and it houses people who are both still awaiting trial and those who have already been convicted of a crime. It also has a portable jailhouse that is pulled during the Gold Rush Days festival. Additionally, the Valdez County Jail system comprises 2 different jails throughout the county rather than one single jail. The Valdez County Sheriff's Office is a 2-story building housing administrative functions such as payroll, finance, and community outreach. The jail can be contacted by phone at (907) 835-4560 or (907) 834-3412.
