While the Pinal County Jail is licensed for 1503 inmates at any given time, they often are forced to make room for many more offenders, especially on weekends. Most of the city and county jails in Arizona have a monthly turnover of at least 40% of their inmate population, another 30% turnover every 90 days, another 20% every six months, and approximately 8-9% stay incarcerated between six and twelve months. Those who stay longer than twelve months are usually facing serious charges like rape or murder, and because of the time it takes to prepare a case like that for trial, offenders arrested in Pinal County are forced to remain in custody in one of the Pinal County facilities much longer.

It holds about 600 men and women on an average day, most awaiting trial, along with people serving county sentences of up to a year and people waiting for transfer to state prison. Programs include educational tablets, a veterans housing unit, tattoo removal and a court-approved work and school release program ($15 a day; call (520) 866-5001).
Arizona Rule of Criminal Procedure 4.1 requires an initial appearance within 24 hours, or release. Rule 7.2 presumes release on recognizance, with bail or conditions only when needed to ensure a return to court or protect the victim or community. The Arizona Constitution allows bail to be denied, after a hearing, only for capital and certain serious sexual offenses when the proof is evident, a felony committed while on bail for a felony, or a substantial danger no conditions can address. Release can come through an unsecured bond, cash bond, secured appearance bond or licensed bail bond agent. At the jail, pay at the TouchPay kiosk in the Building B lobby or by phone at (866) 232-1899, then confirm at the admission window. Cash and property bonds can also be posted with the Clerk of the Superior Court in Building A; bring the full amount and a state ID by 2 p.m. Immigration bonds aren’t accepted, and release can take up to four hours after the bond or court paperwork arrives.

Since January 11, 2026, personal mail goes to the person’s name and ID number, Pinal County Adult Detention Center, P.O. Box 20366, Tampa, Florida 33622, with a return address; letters are scanned for viewing on kiosks and tablets. Legal mail and publications (straight from the publisher; three books and a Bible maximum) go to the name and ID, C/O Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, P.O. Box 2610, Florence, AZ 85132, which also accepts mailed money orders and cashier’s checks. TouchPay deposits online, by phone or at the lobby kiosk usually post within 24 hours. Securus handles calls (7 a.m.–9:30 p.m.). Property is released once to a person named on a form, 9:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. daily except holidays; call (520) 866-5055 first.
Most visitors drive. Central Arizona Regional Transit (CART) runs weekday buses between Coolidge and Florence, so check its schedule if you need a ride. Near the complex along Pinal Parkway Avenue, Speedway has stations at 649 N. Pinal Parkway Avenue and 520 N. Pinal Parkway Avenue. Sonic Drive-In at 495 N. Pinal Parkway Avenue and Taco Bell at 558 N. Pinal Parkway Avenue are both close by for a quick meal.

How Do You Visit an Inmate in the Pinal County Jail? What is the Schedule?

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office offers Remote Video Visitation seven days a week. Hours are from 7:30AM - 8:00PM
Services may be interrupted or suspended due to operational issues at the direction of the Sheriff or Chief Deputy of the Adult Detention Center (ADC).
Discrimination on the basis of a disability or other protected classes is strictly prohibited.
Onsite visitors shall check in upon entry and may be subject to search and/or canine barrier screening.
All visits must be scheduled in advanced at the facility or online.

Visitation Rules and Guidelines
1. Visitors must be 18 years of age or older and possess a current government issued picture ID with date of birth. Minor children of inmates may visit if accompanied by their parent or legal guardian. Legal Guardian must provide court documentation of Guardianship.
2. Adult visitors shall present acceptable evidence of identification upon registering to visit and pass a criminal records check before granted authorization to visit an inmate.
3. Visitors are prohibited from taking any personal property into the visitation area.
4. Visitor attire must be conservative in appearance. All clothing shall be clean, worn in good repair, be non-offensive, and within the bounds of common decency. Skirts and shorts must be mid-thigh in length. Sleeveless shirts are permitted, however tank tops, halter tops or spaghetti straps are prohibited.
5. No visitor will be permitted to visit if they appear to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Visitors discovered to be in possession of illegal contraband may be subject to arrest and criminal prosecution.
6. A visitor shall be allowed two, 20 minute on site visits, per inmate, per week. However, a visitor shall be allowed to visit more than one inmate/detainee if they are immediate family members.
7. Tobacco products, gum, soda and other food items are strictly PROHIBITED.
8. Prospective visitors who have pending felony charges shall be denied access.
Electronic Devices
The Pinal County Adult Detention Center does not allow any electronic devices inside the facility. This is to include cameras, tape recorders, and cell phones, etc. The only exception shall be for law enforcement and legal personnel.
Visitation of Inmate Workers/Trustees
Inmates assigned to work details inside the facility shall be authorized visits, and shall be returned to their housing unit.
Inmates assigned to work details outside the facility shall not be authorized visits at their work assignment.
ADA Accommodations
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office – Adult Detention Center shall not unlawfully discriminate against any person on the basis of a person’s disability. Through compliance with the Americans with Disability Act, all visitors, inmates/detainees and any person with legitimate business at the facility shall be provided barrier-free access to the facility and services consistent with reasonable accommodations and security requirements.
Visitor Searches
All visitors to include Professional visitors, their personal possessions, and vehicles are subject to search by PCSO staff, electronic metal detection devices, or a barrier sniff screening by a PCSO Narcotics Detection Service Canine.
All visitors and their possession shall successfully clear screening by electronic detection devices/equipment.
All persons denied visitation shall be required to depart PCSO-ADC property immediately.
Professional Visits
1. Visits by attorneys, investigating officers and clergy is identified as “professional.” These types of visits will be conducted during the established visitation operational hours.
2. Attorneys may request the use of a Contact Visiting Room for visits.
The following guidelines apply:
a) An Attorney must request in writing and prescheduled this type of visit 24 hours in advance of the requested date and time.
b) Requirements for using the Contact Visiting Room are:
Contact Visits
A contact visit is limited to professional visits only. Professional personnel may request a Contact Visit 24 hours in advance by notifying the Chief Deputy or designee in writing for approval of a contact visit.

The Pinal County Jail allows inmates to receive pre-metered postcards like the type purchased from the post office. They may also allow certain photo postcards as long as they have not been tampered with or contain images that may be considered to be obscene or violent in nature.
Envelopes
The Pinal County Jail may also allow regular postcards and envelopes to be mailed to inmates as well, however more and more jails are no longer allowing envelopes due to concern about paper being dipped into liquefied drugs like methamphetamines and cocaine and then mailed into secure facilities.
