Garland County Detention Center Inmate Search
Hot Springs arrests: finding someone at the Garland County Detention Center
Garland County wraps around Hot Springs and the lakes of the Ouachita Mountains, and it is one of the busier counties in Arkansas. The sheriff runs the Garland County Detention Center on Albert Pike Road, which holds close to 500 people. Start with the Garland County jail roster to see who is held.
This page covers lookups, bond, court, visits, calls, money, mail, medical needs, holds and transfers. The roster shows names, booking dates and charges, and bond amounts appear once a judge sets them. Arrests by Hot Springs police, Hot Springs Village officers and deputies all come to the same jail on Albert Pike Road.
Your first call is the sheriff's office at 501-622-3660. Ask whether your loved one is still held in Hot Springs, what the charges and bond are, and when the first court date is set. Getting someone out is covered on our bail page, and hearings on our court process guide.

↑ Back to the question list3. The judge's deadline
Arkansas Rule 4.1 says that when someone is arrested without a warrant, a judge must find reasonable cause within 48 hours. The first appearance follows, typically on a weekday morning by video. The judge sets bond there and asks about a lawyer.

Garland County District Court in Hot Springs handles misdemeanors, traffic and early felony hearings. Felonies are tried in circuit court at the Garland County courthouse on Ouachita Avenue. Read the Garland court overview.
↑ Back to the question list5. How bond works in Garland County
Some charges have a preset bond; others wait for the judge. Pay the full amount in cash and it comes back after the case if all appearances are made. Or hire a licensed bondsman, whose fee can't exceed ten percent plus small state fees, and that fee is gone for good. Call 501-622-3660 for the amount. See Garland bail.
↑ Back to the question list6. Free legal help
Hot Springs defendants without money for counsel may request the public defender's office at first appearance.
↑ Back to the question list7. Could someone held at the Garland County Detention Center have more warrants?
With a jail this size, outside holds are fairly common. Get in touch with the sheriff's office at 501-622-3660 and check whether the booking carries warrants or detainers from other agencies. A search through Search ARCourts, Arkansas's online case search, can uncover open cases in nearby counties. Should another warrant appear, a lawyer can ask that court to name a bond so your loved one is released once. The Circuit Clerk in Hot Springs answers felony questions at 501-622-3630. The booking number makes each call quicker.

↑ Back to the question list15. Call the sheriff before driving to Albert Pike
Ring 501-622-3660 to make sure they're still in custody, confirm the bond and check that visiting is open that day.
↑ Back to the question list16. Where do federal charges from Garland County go?
It normally starts when groups such as the ATF, the DEA, or IRS agents carry out an arrest. Federal hearings for this county happen in the federal courthouse in Hot Springs, 100 Reserve Street, Room 347, Hot Springs, AR 71901, for the Hot Springs Division of Arkansas's Western District. The Hot Springs office is unstaffed, so call the clerk's office at 833-853-0345. Plan on a short interview with a pretrial officer before court. Usually the next court day, they appear before a federal magistrate judge for a first hearing. Unlike state court, a federal judge won't use a set dollar amount. A bail hearing applying the Bail Reform Act settles release or detention.
Start with the sheriff's roster; the listing may name the Marshals. Deputy marshals in Fort Smith know the location of people in federal custody. Phone 479-289-7470 or 479-424-5000 (you can call either). Its office is at 30 South 6th Street, Room 243, Fort Smith, AR 72901. Meanwhile, the Marshals usually place them in a nearby jail. Following sentencing to prison, the person is sent into BOP custody. Track the person with the BOP locator by name.
↑ Back to the question list17. Did ICE place a hold on someone?
- ICE learns about most arrests by way of booking prints staff send. ICE may then issue a detainer.
- Under the detainer, jail staff can hold them at most two days longer than usual. A holiday doesn't pause the 48 hours.
- Paying bail will not cancel this hold.
- ICE officers usually take custody in person within that window. Deadline passed? At that point the detainer lapses and the jail must let them leave.
- If deputies don't know, call ICE's New Orleans field office on 504-318-2360; it sits at 181 James Drive W, St. Rose, LA 70087.
- Loved ones can track them on the web at the locator site, which asks for the A-number and where they were born. The locator works too by the exact name, country of birth, and DOB when the A-number is unknown.
- ICE alone chooses the detention center.
18. Going to the ADC from Hot Springs? How the transfer works
Prison sentences are served by the ADC. For now, the person waits in the county jail until the state sends for them. Their first stop in prison is an intake unit where staff process them. There, officers weigh gang connections, physical and mental health, and custody level. After that, the ADC sends them to a unit that fits them.
Use the state inmate search for their unit. Our Arkansas state prison guide has prison addresses.
↑ Back to the question list19. Can I find Garland County jail mugshots online?
Yes. The Garland County jail roster puts Garland mugshots beside each person held. Some Garland entries load the photo slowly.
Mugshots show up on the county inmate list next to each name. To ask about a booking photo that isn't public, the media can reach the sheriff's office, 501-622-3660. Federal agencies don't release mugshots to reporters or families. Federal policy keeps sharing to a few situations: to find a fugitive or escapee, for urgent public safety or to aid a capture or warn people. For a photo snapped by immigration officers, the only route is an ICE FOIA request, and a release isn't promised.
