Every detail on this page is checked by hand, not scraped. This unofficial directory helps friends and family of incarcerated individuals find critical information — inmate lists, locations, bail resources, visitation hours, rules, and text, phone, email, and mail services — for jails, detention centers, and prisons across the United States.
Ventura County has a large Juvenile Hall Facility that can house up to 420 young offenders, both male and female in separate areas of the facility. 240 are used for detention and the remaining 180 are focused on commitment services for youth.
It is a full services facility that offers both indoor and outdoor recreation areas, a gym, technology center, visiting center, full medical area, classrooms where regular classwork from the local schools is completed, a full kitchen to provide healthy meals three times each day, and full laundry services.
A courthouse is located directly next to the juvenile facility to allow easy transportation for youth to their court dates, ensuring a timely arrival and attendance at all court dates.
Programs are offered that encourage both individual work and group work to develop skills needed for both, as well as classes to improve employability after their release. Parenting classes, anger management, chess, music, dance, and other programs are offered to improve life and social skills.
Youth are provided access to telephones to make calls to only approved numbers including parents, guardians, and their legal team.
Visitation: Visits are a key part of achieving successful rehabilitation, so visiting hours are provided to each of the housing units every week. Parents and guardians may contact the facility to schedule their visit.

If you think you may have a warrant in Ventura County or elsewhere in California, or you need information about a court case involving you, a friend, or a family member, start with the California Superior Court.
Most people charged with a crime in Ventura County, and anywhere in California, have a constitutional right to be released on bail before trial, though there are exceptions for certain capital and violent felony cases. According to the California Supreme Court, judges must consider a defendant’s ability to pay, and can hold someone who can’t afford bail only if no less restrictive condition would protect public safety or ensure their return to court. Under Rule 4.101, judges also cannot consider whether a defendant has asked for a jury trial.
Find out an inmate’s bail by calling the Ventura County Secure Youth Treatment Facility at 805-981-5521. If you know the charge, you can also look up the standard amount on the Ventura County bail schedule. Cash, surety bonds, and property bonds are all accepted.
The Ventura County Secure Youth Treatment Facility may be licensed for 420 inmates, but it is often forced to hold many more, especially on weekends. Most city and county jails in California turn over at least 35-40% of their inmates every month, another 25-30% every 90 days, and another 15-20% every six months, and roughly 8-9% stay six to twelve months. When someone is held longer than twelve months, they are usually facing a serious charge such as rape or murder. Those cases take longer to prepare for trial, so offenders arrested in this county remain in one of the Ventura County facilities much longer.
Every year, Ventura County law enforcement agencies arrest and detain approximately 42,800 offenders.
When someone is arrested, they are taken to Ventura County Secure Youth Treatment Facility for booking. This process includes identifying them, deciding on charges, and determining if they will be eligible for bail or held until court.
It's important to stay silent during this process, as any statements made may be used in court. Legal advice should be sought before speaking about the case.

The duration of booking can vary, taking between one and 48 hours. For more information on paying an arrestee’s bond, contact Ventura County Secure Youth Treatment Facility at 805-981-5521.
