Broomfield County Detention Center Inmate Search

Have questions about a warrant in Broomfield County or elsewhere in Colorado? Start with Crimewatch. For details about a court case, we recommend the official Colorado docket search. Because not all agencies post warrants on Crimewatch, an empty search doesn’t rule out a warrant.

In Colorado, including Broomfield County, most defendants facing non-capital charges are eligible for reasonable bail. Petty crimes and traffic offenses typically require no monetary bail. When setting bail, judges look at factors such as:

• The defendant’s employment and financial resources.
• How long they’ve lived in the area and whether they have family there.
• How serious the charged offense is.
• Any prior criminal record or past offenses.

The jail can tell you an inmate’s bail if you call the Broomfield County Detention Center at 720-887-2000. You can also look at a sample Colorado bond schedule to see typical amounts, keeping in mind that each judicial district sets its own. The county accepts cash, a surety bond, or a property bond, or can release an offender on personal recognizance.

The Broomfield County Detention Center is licensed for 218 inmates, but on weekends especially, the jail often has to make room for many more offenders. Most city and county jails in Colorado turn over at least 35-40% of their population monthly, another 25-30% every 90 days, and another 15-20% every six months, with about 8-9% staying between six and twelve months. Those who remain longer than a year are generally facing serious charges like rape or murder. Because it takes time to prepare those cases for trial, offenders arrested in this county must stay in custody at one of the Broomfield County facilities much longer.

Each year, Broomfield County law enforcement agencies arrest and detain approximately 4,360 offenders.

Another way in which recidivism is addressed through contact with their friends and family outside of the facility who will support them after their incarceration, which is encouraged through mail, phone calls, and visits.

What is the booking process for the Broomfield County Detention Center?

After being arrested, the offender is brought to the Broomfield County Detention Center for booking, which is the detailed process of identifying, classifying, deciding on charges, and whether the person will either be released on their own recognizance, allowed to be released on bail, or moved into the jail until their court date.

The first thing every newly arrested person must do is close their mouth. Everything an offender says may be used against them, so the best thing to do is remain silent when questioned about the arrest and what led to it.

  • Personal identification.
  • Mugshot(s).
  • Questions about medical history, mental health, drug and alcohol use, and gang affiliations.
  • Possible DNA.
  • Full body search.
  • Property forfeiture.
  • Free phone call.

If you have any questions about when you can pay an offender's bond and what the cost will be, call the facility at 720-887-2000.

How do you pay bail for someone who has been arrested in Broomfield County?

When an offender is arrested and brought to the Broomfield County Detention Center in Broomfield for booking, there are several outcomes after being processed.

1. The offender will be released with no bail, promising to return on a specific date to appear before a judge in either Municipal or Broomfield County Court.
2. The offender is ordered to remain in jail until their court date.
3. The offender is allowed to be released after paying a specified bond or bail.  Call 720-887-2000 to get the exact amount.

The payment of an offender's bail or bond can take many shapes.

  • A cash bond is paid in full at the jail's bonding window or the clerk of court, usually by cash, cashier's check or money order, and many jails also take debit or credit cards through a lobby kiosk or an online bond vendor for an added fee; bring the inmate's full name and booking number, and the jail's number is 720-887-2000.
  • It can be paid using a bail company, licensed to do business in Broomfield County.
  • Many courts accept land or a home as bond collateral; the owner shows clear title and equity of at least the bond amount, often double, using a deed and a recent tax or appraisal value, and the court that set bail approves the property.

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Broomfield County Detention Center?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Broomfield County Detention Center uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Broomfield County Detention Center first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the payee the jail names (check with the jail first) and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order. Never mail cash or a personal check.
