Florida Parish Juvenile Detention Center

The Floriday Parish Juvenile Detention Center serves several communities, and the St Tammany Parish is one of them. It offers a large and convenient location to house the juveniles who require detention under the juvenile services programs. Those who are arrested on an outstanding warrant, who are arrested for a delinquent act and have not had a detention hearing, or those who have been mandated to the facility for a set period of time are all housed in this secure facility. Housing units are used to create small communities within the larger facility, and they often grow relationships with others in their housing unit, allowing them to work on positive relationships, positive social interactions, and the opportunity to practice communication skills. Problem solving, anger management, behavioral management, and other necessary skills are all practiced daily. Counseling is one of the ways in which mental health services are provided, and it can assist in preparing juveniles for their future, and prerelease programs are in place to help with the transition back to the outside community.
