Jackson County Youth Center

With 50 beds, the Jackson County Youth Center has two programs running simultaneously, the Detention Program and the Treatment Program. The mission of the facility is to support and invest in the lives of the youth who are detained or involved in the court system. Staff work towards providing opportunities to change for the juveniles, while working with the community as a whole to provide safety, security, and opportunity. Education is a key opportunity, and full day classes are provided during the weekdays, with opportunities for developing additional life and social skills, along with engagement in new activities, group activities, and access to additional learning opportunities. 24 of the beds are reserved for the detention unit, and it houses juveniles for a short period of time, usually 15 to 20 days. They receive medical and dental care, counseling is provided for all those who will benefit from it, and bible studies are available for those who choose to attend. The remainder of the beds are reserved for those who are in treatment, where they will be able to earn visits home and can recover from addiction, from trauma, and be supported in personal growth. Mail: 930 Fleming Avenue Jackson, Michigan 49202 All mail must come through the US Postal Service Phone: Juveniles who have earned phone calls may make one 5 minute call home each week. Visitation: Parents, stepparents, grandparents, and guardians may visit on appropriate days, with visiting times being 2pm to 4pm on Saturdays for last names A-L and on Sundays during the same hours for last names M-Z. For those in residential treatment visits are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5pm to 7pm.
