Dakota County Juvenile Detention

With a capacity of 40 beds, the Dakota County Juvenile Detention Services Center houses all juvenile offenders and those who require housing for their own safety or the safety of others. They are held until they are determined safe to release, serve any sentence they are assigned to, or have been determined to be innocent of the charges. They will receive full services and treatment during their stay, with housing being determined by their age, gender, history of detention, and past behavior. During their stay they will receive mental health services including therapy or counseling, medications they require, and encouragement to improve their decision making and social skills. Life skills are taught alongside academics, allowing for juveniles to leave the facility without falling behind in school and gaining experience and skills that will help them in the future.
