Located in Jackson city in Ohio, the Jackson County Correctional Facility houses all of the newly arrested offenders and provides their first court visit. To avoid unnecessary transportation and the risks that are included each time an offender is moved to a different building, these appearances are done from the jail via videoconference. The same rights apply, and an inmate can have their lawyer present for these court calls.

The booking portion of the facility offers space for people to be processed quickly and moved from holding cells to their assigned cells. Booking includes the recording of a full name and contact information, fingerprinting, and recording the details of the arrest. This information can then be used to ensure the inmates are all held responsible only for their own charges and gives the offender necessary information to provide to their family, friends, or a bail bondsman in order to be bailed out.

To determine if your loved one is being held in this facility an online search is available.

You can then book a visit, add money to their commissary account, proceed to bail them out so they can await their court date at home, and even send mail.

Visits may be scheduled to occur on Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 5 pm, with the last appointment beginning at 4:30 pm.

How do you pay bail for someone who has been arrested in Jackson County?

When an offender is arrested and brought to the Jackson County Correctional Facility in Jackson for booking, there are several outcomes after being processed.

1. The offender will be released with no bail, promising to return on a specific date to appear before a judge in either Municipal or Jackson County Court.
2. The offender is ordered to remain in jail until their court date.
3. The offender is allowed to be released after paying a specified bond or bail.  Call 740-288-1338 to get the exact amount.

The payment of an offender's bail or bond can take many shapes.

  • A cash bond is paid in full at the jail's bonding window or the clerk of court, usually by cash, cashier's check or money order, and many jails also take debit or credit cards through a lobby kiosk or an online bond vendor for an added fee; bring the inmate's full name and booking number, and the jail's number is 740-288-1338.
  • It can be paid using a bail company, licensed to do business in Jackson County.
  • Many courts accept land or a home as bond collateral; the owner shows clear title and equity of at least the bond amount, often double, using a deed and a recent tax or appraisal value, and the court that set bail approves the property.
