Hampton County juvenile offenders are housed with up to 72 youth from 46 different counties across the state of South Carolina. It offers safe and secure housing along with the care of all of the juveniles within. Each housing pod is separated by gender, age, past history of detention or offenses, and other factors. An assessment will determine what grade they are in so their education is provided at a grade appropriate level and with the intention of keeping pace with local public schools. Mental health support is offered in both group and individual settings to provide the best results for each individual resident. Medical care is provided for illness, injury, and ongoing care for all those who are admitted to the building. Recreational activities are planned for social interaction and rest time, along with both indoor and outdoor physical activity and education. Programs offer opportunities to improve and learn new life skills, social skills, and further education. Time is provided for writing letters, calling parents or guardians, and visiting hours are provided weekly.
