Search for an Inmate or Active Arrest Warrant in Autauga County

Finding someone at the Autauga Metro Jail

When a loved one has been picked up anywhere in Autauga County, Alabama, the sheriff's own Autauga County inmate search is the place to begin. Search by name to see who is booked in right now. For charges, bond amounts, or whether a booking photo is on file for your person, jail staff can help at 334-361-2600.

Prattville folks call their hometown the Fountain City, thanks to the artesian wells that still bubble up around the old Daniel Pratt mill district. The Autauga Metro Jail sits right in that historic part of town, at 136 North Court Street, Prattville, AL 36067. A short stroll south on Court Street brings you to Heritage Park, where a three-tier iron fountain fed by one of those wells looks out over Autauga Creek.

Sheriff Mark Harrell's office also keeps a Most Wanted page listing people deputies are hunting for. If you recognize someone there, call the sheriff rather than trying to handle it yourself.

When the search comes up empty

A fresh arrest can take a few hours to show up while staff finish booking. Try other spellings, a maiden name or just the first few letters of the last name. Someone you can't find here may have bonded out, been moved to another county, or gone to state prison. Before you drive downtown, give the jail a ring at 334-361-2600; staff can confirm whether the person is inside.

Sad news can't always wait for visiting day. If someone inside has lost a family member, call the jail and ask how to get the message to them. That same call is the way to ask whether a funeral visit might be possible.

Town police that use the Metro Jail

Sheriff's deputies are not the only ones who book people here. These departments do too:

  • Prattville: Prattville Police, office line 334-595-0208, night line 334-361-9911
  • Autaugaville: Autaugaville Police, 334-365-9335

Since Prattville runs no city jail, a person it arrests on a city charge should show up on this roster. Picked up near Billingsley or along a rural road? Jail staff at 334-361-2600 can say whether that person was brought in.

Free alerts through VINELink

Think of VINELink as a free watchdog. Pick Alabama, search the person's name, and if they turn up you can sign up to hear about changes. Updates arrive however you like best, whether that's a ring on your phone, a note in your inbox or a text, and they warn you about events like a release or a move to another facility. Victims often use it for peace of mind, but any family member may sign up. Questions about the service? Dial 877-846-3425, the free AlaVINE number.

Prison and federal lookups

State prison. After sentencing on a long state term, a person leaves Prattville for the Alabama prison system. Look them up on the ADOC inmate search, using either a full name or the six-digit AIS number the state gives each prisoner. It covers people held now, and anyone sentenced under the Youthful Offender Act is left off.

Immigration custody. For someone held by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, go to the ICE Online Detainee Locator. You will need the country of birth, plus either the nine-digit A-Number or the exact first and last name.

Federal custody. A federal charge leads to the BOP's nationwide locator, which reaches back to 1982. You can type a name, or plug in the person's federal register number. Seeing "released" there just means the federal system no longer holds the person; another agency still might.

Around the neighborhood

Got time to kill while you wait on a callback? The Prattaugan Museum at 102 East Main Street holds local history, and the Autauga-Prattville Public Library sits at 254 Doster Street. Both are only minutes from the jail.

In the news. Harrell, who emptied the jail in 2024 over mold, won the Republican runoff for sheriff on June 16, 2026, with about 55% of the vote, 1819 News reported. He faces no Democratic opponent in November.

Once you know the person is here, these pages help with what comes next: bonding someone out of the Autauga Metro Jail, sending a letter to Prattville and adding money to an inmate account.
