Arrested in Flagstaff, Page or Williams: a Coconino County guide
Coconino is Arizona's biggest county by land, covering Flagstaff, Williams, Page, Tusayan and the Grand Canyon, along with large parts of the Navajo Nation and the Hopi, Havasupai and Kaibab lands. The sheriff's main jail is the Coconino County Detention Facility in Flagstaff. Search VINELink (Coconino County) or call for inmate information at 928-226-5200. Coconino County has no inmate search of its own, so try VINELink.

- Coconino County Detention Facility on East Sawmill Road in Flagstaff, the main adult jail, 928-226-5200
- Page jail facility, a smaller sheriff's site in Page, 928-645-8873
People booked in Page are often moved to Flagstaff, about two and a half hours south.
Back to questions ↑Running a Coconino roster search
There's no Coconino County inmate search site. Use VINELink (Coconino County); then phone the Coconino jail to confirm.
Enter the name in VINELink (Coconino County). Note the booking number.
Back to questions ↑Why isn't the person listed?
Distances here are huge. An arrest at the Grand Canyon or near Fredonia may mean hours on the road before booking. Then intake takes its own time. Call 928-226-5200 and spell the name, with the birthday. If Flagstaff has nothing, the person may be in a tribal jail or may have been cited and released.
Back to questions ↑Might they have been cited and released?
Arizona allows that for misdemeanors. Flagstaff officers often give a notice to appear for minor offenses, with a date in Flagstaff Municipal Court or the justice court. Domestic violence arrests don't qualify.
Back to questions ↑When does a Coconino judge hold the first hearing?
Within a day of the arrest; the rule is 24 hours. Judges in Flagstaff hold these daily, frequently by video, and set release conditions.
Back to questions ↑How does release work in Coconino County?
Release on the person's own promise comes first under state rules. Judges add a bond, supervision or no-contact terms when they think it's needed, and a few very serious charges can lead to detention after a hearing. See our Coconino bail guide.
Back to questions ↑Posting bail in Flagstaff
Call 928-226-5200 for the exact amount and the payment types allowed. A bondsman may post it, keeping a fee that never comes back. Holds from other agencies can still keep the person in.
Back to questions ↑Coconino courts
Felonies go to Coconino County Superior Court in downtown Flagstaff. County misdemeanors are heard in the Flagstaff, Williams, Page or Fredonia justice courts. City cases go to Flagstaff Municipal Court. See the Coconino court steps.
Back to questions ↑Getting appointed counsel in Coconino County
The county's public defender takes appointed cases. Your relative should tell the judge if money for a lawyer isn't there. Jail calls are monitored.
Back to questions ↑Visiting at the Flagstaff jail
Video visits run from home or from jail stations, after you sign up. If the schedule isn't posted, call the jail or check online. See Coconino visitation and remote video visits.

Back to questions ↑Arrests on the Navajo Nation, Hopi or Havasupai land
These nations have their own police and courts. The Navajo Nation runs a jail in Tuba City; its police answer at 928-283-3111. Hopi and Havasupai cases go through their tribal systems. None of these jails show up on the county roster.
Back to questions ↑Don't fall for bail scams
Gift-card requests never come from a real jail. Payments belong with Flagstaff jail staff, a court clerk, or a bondsman of your own choosing; verify anything odd by calling 928-226-5200.
Back to questions ↑Before the drive to Sawmill Road, what should I verify?
Phone the Coconino County Detention Facility at 928-226-5200 so staff can tell you whether your relative is still held and what release will cost. For patrol questions, use the sheriff's dispatch, 928-774-4523.
Back to questions ↑Which court takes federal cases from Coconino County?
Officers from groups such as the ATF, the Postal Inspection Service, the Marshals Service or the DEA handle federal arrests, sometimes with deputies. Within Grand Canyon National Park, park rangers can arrest people and bring federal charges, which a federal magistrate handles, separate from the county. Flagstaff is in the District of Arizona's Prescott Division; cases happen in Flagstaff, 123 North San Francisco Street, Suite 200, Flagstaff, AZ 86001. Clerk staff in Flagstaff take calls at 928-774-2566. There will be questions from a pretrial services officer; the answers go to the judge. Soon after booking, the defendant sees a federal magistrate judge. Bail is not set off a chart in U.S. district court. Applying the 1984 Bail Reform Act, the magistrate holds a short hearing to decide whether they can leave.
During the case, the Marshals may hold them in a private jail through a contract. Start on the sheriff's roster first. Phoning the Marshals on 928-213-0135 can confirm their location. Its address is 123 North San Francisco Street, Suite 101, Flagstaff, AZ 86001. Sentenced people leave the county jail to a BOP prison after sentencing. Find them through the federal locator.
Back to questions ↑ICE hold: the steps
- Right after arrest, the person's prints reach Homeland Security. ICE may then place a detainer at the jail.
- Even after bond is posted, the ICE hold remains active.
- The cap is 48 hours: the detainer only asks the Flagstaff jail to wait before opening the door until officers arrive. A holiday doesn't pause the clock.
- ICE officers often pick them up in person inside that 48-hour window. If they don't come, staff is supposed to release them.
- For help, call ICE's Phoenix field office (it covers Arizona) at 602-257-5900; the office is at 2035 North Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
- Their next facility is ICE's call.
- The free web tool, the detainee locator, tells which center holds them by A-number and country of birth. Families lacking the A-number can enter the exact name together with nation of birth and birth date.
How will a move from the Flagstaff jail to the ADCRR happen?
A prison term is carried out under Arizona's corrections department (ADCRR). First, they remain in the Flagstaff jail while the state schedules the move. After that, they go to an intake center for processing. Prison staff classify everyone by their risk level, known gang ties and physical and emotional health. Their final stop is a unit that matches them.
You can find them by ADC number in the Department of Corrections search. The state prison page covers prison addresses.
Back to questions ↑Mugshots from the Flagstaff jail: what is released
For a photo that isn't public, reporters can call the sheriff's office at 928-774-4523. For an immigration mugshot, file an ICE FOIA request; ICE must sign off. The federal government doesn't release mugshots to reporters or families. The Marshals Service, which snaps them, releases one only in narrow cases: to find an escapee or fugitive, for pressing community safety or if release could help find them or warn the public.
