The Pulaski County Regional Detention Facility at 3201 West Roosevelt Road in Little Rock, AR 72204 is the largest county jail in Arkansas. Opened in 1994 and operated by the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, it uses direct supervision, with deputies working inside the housing units. It holds more than 1,200 men and women on a typical day and is the only long-term detention facility in Pulaski County. It books arrests from twelve law enforcement agencies and holds people for thirty-three state and local courts. Most are pretrial. Others are serving county sentences or waiting for transfer to the Arkansas Division of Correction. The facility offers GED classes, chaplain services, round-the-clock nursing and mental health care, and the CSI Academy re-entry program. The sheriff’s office posts its inmate roster at correctionsrecordssearch.com/arpulaskicounty. After intake, the person goes before a judge without unnecessary delay, generally within 48 hours (Arkansas Rule of Criminal Procedure 8.1). Felony cases are heard in the Sixth Judicial Circuit, which covers Pulaski and Perry counties. Misdemeanors go to district court. Arkansas law starts from the right to bail. Article 2, §8 of the state constitution says everyone is bailable before conviction except for capital offenses when the proof is evident or the presumption great. Under Rules 9.1–9.2, judges look first at release on recognizance or with conditions and set money bail only when nothing else will reasonably ensure the person comes back to court. Many families use a licensed bail bond agent. Under Arkansas Code §17-19-301, the premium is 10% of the bond, rounded up to the nearest $5 and paid in full before release, plus small nonrefundable state fees.
Visits are scheduled in advance through JailATM; create an account at deposits.jailatm.com or call (501) 340-7001, option 1. In-person visits must be booked at least 24 hours ahead. Visits run between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., starting on the hour, with one 30-minute visit per week and no more than three visitors at a time. Days depend on the person’s last name: A–M on Monday or Saturday and N–Z on Tuesday or Sunday, while Units A, B and W visit Wednesday or Thursday. Everyone must show photo ID except children under 18, who must come with an adult. Arrive on time; a visitor more than 10 minutes late forfeits the visit until the following week. Visits are canceled on county holidays and during bad weather or emergencies.
