Amador County Jail Inmate Search
If you need to know about a warrant in Amador County or anywhere in California, or about a court case involving you, a friend, or a relative, start your search with the California Superior Court.
Every court in California, including those in Amador County, recognizes that most criminal defendants have a constitutional right to pretrial release on bail, with exceptions for certain capital and violent felony charges. The California Supreme Court has said judges must consider what a defendant can afford and cannot detain someone solely for being unable to pay unless no less restrictive option would protect public safety or ensure their appearance. Judges are also barred by Rule 4.101 from considering whether the defendant has requested a jury trial.
If you need to know an inmate’s bail, call the Amador County Jail at 209-223-6521. Or, if you know the charge, check the bail schedule for Amador County. Bail can be posted in cash, with a surety bond, or with a property bond.
At any given time, the Amador County Jail is licensed to hold 76 inmates, but it is often forced to take in more, especially on weekends. At most city and county jails in California, at least 35-40% of inmates turn over every month, another 25-30% every 90 days, and another 15-20% every six months, and about 8-9% stay six to twelve months. Inmates held more than twelve months are typically facing serious charges such as rape or murder. Because those cases take longer to get ready for trial, offenders arrested in this county remain at one of the Amador County facilities much longer.
Amador County law enforcement agencies arrest and detain approximately 2,000 offenders every year.
Sharing a building with the Sheriff’s Office, the 76-bed Amador County Jail is located right downtown along with administration buildings and other government buildings, standing a few stories tall in concrete and brick.
Each of the offenders who are arrested in Amador County for either misdemeanors or felonies and they will remain at the location as they wait for their trial or as they are serving a sentence provided by the court.

Meals, health care, mental health care, and necessary treatments are all provided by the Amador County Jail, allowing inmates the best chance of success after their incarceration.
The capacity ratings for the building are 76 inmates, with 11 of those beds being assigned for female inmates.
After arrest there is a booking process and at the end of that process each inmate will be provided with the opportunity to make phone calls in which they can arrange bail, notify their attorney, or to inform friends or family where they are.
After the first calls, all inmates have access to phones from 6am to 11pm in the housing units and these calls are either paid for by credit or they are made collect to the receiver.
Mail is delivered Monday through Thursday, and they will be able to respond to each of their letters. All mail is addressed to:
