It isn't. Corcoran is home to two state prisons, but local arrests go to the Kings County Jail in Hanford, run by the Sheriff. Only people sentenced to state prison go to Corcoran or Avenal prisons.

Kings arraigns jailed people in two days or less, leaving Sundays and holidays out, at 1640 Kings County Drive. The criminal clerk is at 559-582-1010, open 8 to 4 on weekdays Read Kings court steps.

The court decides whether someone at the Hanford jail is brought in or joins by video, and CourtCall reservations come only from a case's own parties. If a connected family, civil or probate case names you as a party, you can sign up on CourtCall where the judge permits.

The bail schedule can be paid at the jail, in full or with a bond. A judge may instead order supervised release through the Day Reporting Center (559-852-4669). Judges must consider ability to pay. See the Kings bail guide.

Kings uses a contract office, Defense of the Indigent Accused (559-852-2119), in place of a public defender.

The Kings County Juvenile Center, 1424 Forum Drive in Hanford (559-852-2970), holds detained minors. Juvenile probation is at 559-852-2850.

That's a scam. The Kings jail takes bail only at the facility or through a bondsman you choose. Call 559-584-1431.

Federal agents from groups such as the Marshals Service or the FBI make federal arrests, sometimes with local police. This county falls under the federal Eastern District of California's Fresno Division; hearings happen downtown in Fresno, 2500 Tulare Street, Fresno, CA 93721. The clerk's line: 559-499-5600. The first appearance comes quickly with a magistrate judge. Pretrial services also talks with them and sends the court a report. Federal court has no bail price list. Start with the jail's inmate list. Before trial, U.S. Marshals often house them in local jails through a contract. The Marshals Service branch for this district is at 2500 Tulare Street, Suite 3501, Fresno, CA 93721. Dial 559-442-2858 to find the inmate. A prison term leads to a move into a federal lockup run by the BOP in time. The BOP locator shows their prison after that.

• ICE finds out about the arrest from the prints deputies take. ICE can then place a detainer.
• The I-247A asks jail staff in Hanford to keep the person pending ICE pickup up to 48 hours after they would otherwise be released (8 CFR 287.7(d)). In Hanford, California's SB 54 means the jail releases people on the normal schedule and limits ICE notice or transfer to a judge-issued warrant or certain serious convictions.
• Paying the bond doesn't erase the detainer. The hold simply begins then.
• Immigration officers sometimes take custody at the jail while the hold lasts. Without an ICE pickup, this means they're released on the local case.
• Cases here are run from the San Francisco field office, at 630 Sansome Street, Room 590, San Francisco, CA 94111; call 415-365-8800.
• Where they are sent is ICE's call.
• Transfers between centers happen, so recheck the ICE locator now and then using their A-number and country of birth. Without the alien number (A-number)? Type in their full name, DOB and home country instead.

State prison terms are handled by the CDCR. The person waits in the Hanford jail until the CDCR picks them up. Next, they go to a reception unit to be processed. Prison staff classify new arrivals by health care needs, gang links and security risk. Their next move is the unit that suits those results.

The Kings jail roster has no mugshots; it shows who Kings is holding and why.

California's rule is Penal Code 13665. It deals with social media. Nonviolent arrests are the main target. Agencies may not post those photos there. Posts must come down within 14 days. A judge can also allow a post. The rule skips the sheriff's own site. Even so, many sheriffs leave photos off.

News media may request a mugshot that isn't posted by calling sheriff's staff on 559-584-1431. ICE photos become available just through ICE's online FOIA request, if ICE agrees. U.S. booking photos aren't given to reporters or residents. The Marshals, who shoot federal booking photos, put them out just for someone on the run, when the community needs to be warned right away, or to assist an arrest or to alert people.
