San Joaquin County Juvenile Hall

The San Joaquin County Probation Department is responsible for the Juvenile Detention Services. In this facility they provide a safe and secure location to house youth who are awaiting placement, who have been newly arrested and not had a court appearance yet, or who have been committed to the facility for a set amount of time during a sentencing hearing. Any youth who are on probation and arrested by their probation officer will also be taken to this facility. The first appearance in court will determine if the charges will be dropped and they may be released, if they will be released to their parents pending trial, or if they will be detained until their sentencing. They may alternatively be committed to the Camp or Work Project Program. There is also a Juvenile Camp that is operated on the grounds of the juvenile hall that allows youth between 14 to 17, moderate to high risk, not dependent on drugs or alcohol, not dangerous to others, and capable of completing the program. The Work Project Program is for youth over 13 and allows them to serve their sentence without being fully confined to the juvenile hall.
