Zebulan Pike Youth Services Center

Housing up to 27 young offenders, both male and female, who are arrested in the Souther Region of Colorado, the Zebulan Pike Youth Services Center operates around the clock throughout the year. Youth who find themselves residing here will be waiting for their court hearing or they will have been sentenced to less than 45 days of incarceration. Longer sentences will result in a transfer to an alternative facility that can better meet the needs of a long term resident. Before their stay begins, a risk assessment is completed to determine what services and programs will result in the best results for each individual youth. Each of the residents will be between the ages of 10 and 17, with those younger not being sentenced to detention and those over 17 serving in adult facilities. GED classes are provided, as well as appropriate work for the grade that the student attends in the public school system, and both basic education and vocational skills are taught throughout the year. Mental health support is offered for any substance use concerns, learning delays, and concerns such as anxiety, anger management, and counselling. To find out whether you have a warrant in El Paso County or anywhere in Colorado, begin with Crimewatch. For court case details involving you, a friend, or a relative, the official Colorado source is the most reliable option. Note that Crimewatch only shows warrants that participating agencies choose to post, so it may not list every active warrant.

In Colorado, including El Paso County, the law makes reasonable bail available to most defendants facing non-capital charges, and those charged with petty or traffic offenses usually have no monetary bail. Judges set bail after reviewing factors like:

• The defendant’s financial situation and whether they are employed.
• Whether they’ve lived in the area for a while or have family nearby.
• The severity of the offense they are charged with.
• Their prior criminal record and past offenses.

To get an inmate’s bail, call the Zebulan Pike Youth Services Center at 719-385-3370. If you know what they were arrested for, a sample Colorado bond schedule can help you estimate the amount, since each judicial district publishes its own. Cash, surety bonds, and property bonds are accepted, and personal recognizance release is an option.

Here’s what to know about the Zebulan Pike Youth Services Center’s population:

  • Licensed capacity: 40 inmates, though the jail often has to make room for more, especially on weekends
  • Typical monthly turnover at city and county jails: at least 35-40%
  • Additional turnover every 90 days: 25-30%
  • Additional turnover every six months: 15-20%
  • Held six to twelve months: about 8-9%

Inmates held longer than twelve months are usually facing serious charges like rape or murder. Because those cases take longer to prepare for trial, offenders arrested in this county remain in one of the El Paso County facilities much longer.

Every year, El Paso County law enforcement agencies arrest and detain approximately 30,800 offenders.
