- The amount after a Golden arrest comes from a judge.
- Time limit: state law gives courts around 48 hours from booking to review bail for most people.
- Personal recognizance: the person signs a pledge to appear at each Jefferson court date.
- Cash bond: someone pays the entire sum.

- Property in Colorado counts only if the equity in it is worth 1.5 times the bond.
- Extra rules: release can include reporting in, no-contact orders, and more.
- Other holds: a warrant from another county can still keep someone in the Golden jail after bond is posted.
- Missing a date: a missed hearing may bring a warrant and forfeiture of the bond.

Any federal case from Jefferson County won't stay in the county court system. Hearings happen inside the Alfred A. Arraj U.S. Courthouse in Denver, 901 19th Street, Denver, CO 80294 — the clerk's office answers at 303-844-3433. A first hearing comes soon after booking, before a U.S. magistrate judge at a first appearance.
Federal court has no bail chart. In its place, the magistrate holds a detention hearing to choose whether the person may go free pending trial and which conditions fit. Before trial, many federal detainees sit in one of the county jails on contract with the Marshals Service. To learn which jail, contact the U.S. Marshals on 303-728-7800. Once a judge imposes prison time, the BOP runs things from there. Its BOP inmate locator lists the prison.
Back to questions ↑What if ICE puts a Jefferson County inmate on hold?
Step 1: At booking, the fingerprints are checked in federal systems ICE has access to.
Step 2: When ICE decides to act, it sends a hold request using Form I-247A.
Step 3: That detainer requests up to 48 added hours past the normal release time. That time counts hour by hour; weekends and holidays are not skipped.
Step 4: State law in Colorado, C.R.S. 24-76.6-102, says a jail can't keep a person past release only because ICE asked. So Jefferson County has to release them on time except when a separate lawful hold exists.
Step 5: Officers from ICE can arrive right at release and take the person. Otherwise, the detained person goes free.
Find ICE detainees with the locator. Enter their A-number with birth country.

Back to questions ↑Where does someone from Jefferson County go after a prison sentence?
After a DOC sentence, your relative remains in the Golden jail until the state transfers them. The first stop is a CDOC intake center. There, staff check security level, medical needs, mental health and programs.
Once classified, they're assigned to a facility suited to their needs. Try Colorado's offender search; the prison directory lists each prison's address.
Back to questions ↑Will Jefferson County mugshots show up online?
Try the Jefferson booking search first. It lists Jefferson inmates without mugshots. Reporters looking for a mugshot that is not posted may contact the Jefferson County sheriff's office (via the jail line) on 303-271-5444.
A photo taken by ICE must be sought on the ICE FOIA records page; then ICE must approve it.
Mugshots taken in federal cases are never released to the public and the press. There is one exception: the Marshals Service, keeper of U.S. booking photos, can share a photo for a wanted person in order to help bring them in or put the public on notice, or in case of a danger to the public right now.
