Hillsborough County Falkenburg Jail Inmate Search

Under Florida law, most defendants in Hillsborough County are entitled to pretrial release on reasonable conditions. The main exceptions are capital and life felonies when the proof is evident, and cases where a judge finds no conditions would keep the community safe. Many minor misdemeanors and traffic offenses result in a notice to appear. Most other bond amounts are set by the Florida Supreme Court’s uniform statewide bond schedule.

Calling the Hillsborough County Falkenburg Jail at 813-247-8300 is the quickest way to find out an inmate’s bail. For a general idea of the amount, check the charge against the Florida uniform statewide bond schedule for 2026. Judicial circuits can set higher local amounts, and a judge at the first appearance hearing isn’t bound by the schedule. The county accepts cash, surety bonds, and property bonds, and may release someone on personal recognizance.

The Hillsborough County Falkenburg Jail is licensed for 2304 inmates, but weekends in particular often bring in more offenders than that. At most city and county jails in Florida, at least 35-40% of the population turns over monthly, another 25-30% every 90 days, and another 15-20% every six months, with about 8-9% remaining six to twelve months. Inmates who stay longer than a year are usually facing serious charges like rape or murder, and because it takes time to prepare those cases for trial, offenders arrested in this county remain in one of the Hillsborough County facilities much longer.

Hillsborough County law enforcement agencies arrest and detain approximately 82,160 offenders each year.

About the Hillsborough County Falkenburg Jail

Hillsborough County has two main detention centers, the Orient Road Jail that functions as the primary receiving facility and this one, the Falkenburg Jail.

Sitting on 142 acres and having a rated capacity of 3,300 the Falkenburg Road Jail provides several services to the inmates within including educational opportunities, vocational programming, GED classes and exams, and allows for family to visit and remain in contact through mail and phone calls. Vocational programs include culinary arts and sewing classes, while general education covers general academics and a GED. Additionally, rehabilitation efforts are made through domestic violence education and prevention, substance abuse treatments, counseling and education on substance use and preventing addictions, anger management, and other key programs to provide skills that will be used throughout life.

This facility is also the location of the visiting center for both the Falkenburg Road and the Orient Road locations.

The Falkenburg Road Jail is the larger of Hillsborough County’s two jails and is where most people are housed once booking is finished. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office runs it as Jail Divisions II and III at 520 N. Falkenburg Road, Tampa, FL 33619, reachable through the jail line at (813) 247-8300. The sheriff lists it at 3,300 beds on 142 acres and describes it as one of the largest direct-supervision jails in the country. In that design, deputies work inside the housing units with the people held there. The jail first opened in 1998 and was expanded in 2003. Programs include GED classes, culinary arts, sewing, substance abuse treatment and domestic violence education. Medical care, food service and commissary are provided by contractors.

No one is booked directly into Falkenburg Road. Every arrest in the county goes through Central Booking at the Orient Road Jail first, and people are moved here after classification. So if you’re searching right after an arrest, the person may still show up at Orient Road. The sheriff’s Arrest Inquiry tool covers both jails and shows the booking number, charges and bond. First appearance before a judge happens within 24 hours of arrest under Florida Rule 3.130, in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.

Anyone who is still being held can often be bonded out from here, but the paperwork and payment happen at Orient Road. The sheriff takes cash in the exact amount or money orders, not cards, and you’ll need ID plus the person’s correct name and date of birth. Under Article I, Section 14 of the Florida Constitution, most defendants have a right to pretrial release on reasonable conditions. The exceptions are capital or life felonies with strong proof, and cases where no conditions can keep the community safe. Before first appearance, jail staff use the Florida Supreme Court’s 2026 uniform statewide bond schedule, which the Thirteenth Circuit adopted as written. A chief judge may raise those amounts, and the judge at first appearance can set a different bond. Certain charges require a judge’s review before release under sections 903.011, 903.046 and 907.041. Many low-level misdemeanors end with a notice to appear. With a licensed bondsman, the state-regulated premium is 10% of the bond amount (Florida Department of Financial Services). It’s non-refundable, and small bonds usually carry a minimum premium, often $100, so confirm the amount before paying. For outstanding warrants, try the FDLE wanted persons search, which doesn’t list every warrant.

Falkenburg once had its own Video Visitation Center, but the sheriff closed onsite visitation on October 28, 2025. Every family visit is now remote through Smart Communications (smartinmate.com, (727) 349-1561). Each person gets two free hours of scheduled video time a week. On-demand sessions cost extra, and visits generally run from 9:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Phones in the housing units are outgoing only, usually from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Attorneys and other court-appointed professionals can still visit in person from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. after faxing their paperwork to (813) 242-1885.

Letters go to the county’s mail processing center, not the jail: the person’s name and booking number, c/o Mail Processing Center, PO Box 9115, Seminole, FL 33775-9115. No packages or periodicals are accepted. Legal mail goes to 520 N. Falkenburg Road. There’s a deposit kiosk in the Falkenburg Road lobby, and you can also deposit through TouchPay or by phone at (866) 232-1899 (facility locator 233619, booking number without dashes). Canteen is delivered twice a week, and deposits cover any old jail fees first.

HART Route 37 (Brandon/Netpark) runs along Falkenburg Road with stops near the jail, including Falkenburg Rd at Broadway Av and at Columbus Dr. Confirm times with HART. For gas, there’s a Circle K at 101 N Falkenburg Rd just south of the jail and a Shell at 10030 E Adamo Dr. For a quick meal, Wendy’s at 9940 E Adamo Dr and McDonald’s at 10019 E Adamo Dr are a short drive away.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Hillsborough County Falkenburg Jail?

There are five options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Use the self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Hillsborough County Falkenburg Jail uses Touchpay to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Booking Number in memo section of the Money Order.

Mail the Money order to:
Aramark
207 Kelsey Lane Suite "G"
Tampa, FL 33619

Failure to do this properly will delay your inmate getting his account credited and may require you to have to resubmit a second money order.

Option 4 - Make an Inmate Deposit over the Phone
Touchpay will accept deposits over the phone with a debit or credit card. Call 866-232-1899.
To do this you will need the inmate's Booking Number, full legal name and Facility Locator Number - 233619.

Option 5 - Deposit Money for Digital Messaging
{facility_name-1} uses gettingout for sending photos, and sending and receiving messages from your inmate, including renting them a tablet they can use while in jail.
Deposit money for them on the gettingout website or by calling 866-516-0115.
