Located in Midland, Georgia, the Muscogee Youth Development Campus is the current long term housing and treatment facility for young offenders and other youth throughout the county and surrounding counties. It provides extended periods of treatment and rehabilitation for those who need it, as well as providing long term housing for juvenile offenders who are serving an extended sentence.
To instill discipline and to keep the facility on schedule and manageable, each of the youth has a strict routine each day and set times for their activities from waking up and preparing for the day to meals and classes or training. Vocational training is provided to teach new skills and gain experience.
Education is a main focus and school occurs during regular school hours and with the same curriculum as the local schools.
Behavioral therapy, group therapy, private sessions, counselling, addictions treatment, and other medical and mental health services are provided. Meals are cooked on campus and are balanced for all nutritional needs. Youth may remain in the facility beyond the age of majority if they were charged and sentenced while under age through the juvenile justice system.
