About the Augusta Youth Development Campus
Able to house up to 120 detainees at any time, the Augusta Youth Development Campus houses juvenile offenders throughout the local counties and cities who are requiring longer periods of treatment or ongoing rehabilitation. It houses both juveniles as well as young adults who were charged and sentenced as juveniles throughout their sentence. Each juvenile who is admitted will undergo an assessment to determine their past history with detention and behaviors in detention facilities, their age and gender, and how serious the charges are. Youth who commit crimes together will be housed in different units when possible. The youth will follow a strict schedule and routine each day, with meals provided, care for their own personal items, attend classes to continue their education, and treatments for addictions, mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, and any other needs. Rehabilitation is not only focused on one area of life, but on providing the youth with the tools and education they need to prevent recidivism and create healthy and successful lives. Life skills and social skills are practiced, including parenting, budgets, household finances, healthy food choices, positive decision making, and positive social interactions. Mail: 3481 MIKE PADGETT HWY AUGUSTA, GA 30906 All mail can be inspected for contraband, and it must follow all the restrictions for content, delivery method, and it can be refused from some individuals based upon their being held in another facility, involved in the crime that the youth was charged with, or others. Phones: Phones are provided for regular phone calls to all approved contracts, which may be limited to parents and guardians. Visitation: Visitors must be approved in advance by the court or probation officers, and only those who are approved will be provided with the details to complete their visit.
