Napma Juvenile Corrections Center Information

Juveniles who have been arrested or charged with crimes and have not responded well to alternatives to incarceration may be determined to require detention. The Nampa Juvenile Corrections Center is a secure facility that focuses on education, counseling, building and developing skills, and treatments required for mental and physical health. Using cognitive skill building and encouraging youth to use the new skills they are acquiring; the staff assist youth in their preparation for their return to their community. Included treatments are conduct disorder treatment, substance abuse treatment, mental health, sexual misconduct treatment, and an outdoor program. Youth are encouraged to interact in projects in their communities and homes. Medical care is available 24/7, along with clinical services as needed, education is provided both basic and life skills or extended education opportunities, religious services are held, and food services provide healthy meals three times each day. Once a GED or high school diploma is achieved there is access for college credits, workplace certificates, and work experience opportunities. Every youth who leaves the facility should be up to date with their education, have earned additional credits, have plans to deal with any learning difficulties, and be prepared for the return to their schooling or to attend college, find a job, or continue with a work experience program to gain more skills. Newspapers may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.

Books
The Napma Juvenile Corrections Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as AmazonBarnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
Books must NOT contain images or content that are considered excessively violent, pornographic or obscene. Any book that does not meet the Napma Juvenile Corrections Center standards will be disposed of. 
Hard cover books will not be accepted by the jail due to their potential to be used as a weapon.
