Inmate Emailing & Texting at Humboldt County Jail

Humboldt County Jail uses the services of Reliance Telephone for emailing/texting to inmates.

Known as the 'Reliance Inmate Wallet', it makes funding jail communication easy.

  • Payments made into an 'Inmate Wallet' account are linked to a dedicated telephone number for inmates who rent one of their Reliance Tablet Phones.
  • Inmate Wallet funds can be used for personal inmate text messaging, voice calls and video calls.
  • Cost of texting is $4.00 per month for rental of the Reliance Tablet Phone + $0.09 per message sent or received up to 160 characters.

Humboldt County Jail Announces Major Inmate Email and Text Policy - January 4, 2023

Due to the ability of third party companies providing a secure environment for Humboldt County Jail inmates and their contacts outside the facility to communicate digitally, this facility will now (or soon) be providing the ability for digital messaging.

Secure digital messaging allows for a delay between the emails of the inmate and their friends and family, so that the jail can scan the communication for illegal or other communications against their policies.

Note that all messages, both sent and received, will be saved and will be referred to in the inmate's existing or future criminal charges.

Complete instructions on how to sign up for this service for the Humboldt County Jail, and how it works can be found below. Call 515-332-2471 if you have any questions.
