Fleming County Inmate Search

Because Fleming County has no lockup, someone it arrests may be in custody at the Mason County Detention Center (702 US 68, Maysville, KY 41056; 606-564-3621) or the Montgomery County Regional Jail (751 Chenault Lane, Mount Sterling, KY 40353; 859-498-8747), so search the inmate roster and phone each jail if needed. Mugshot release is covered below. VINELink, KYeCourts case search and our court guide help track a case.

1. Where are Fleming County inmates held?

At the Mason County Detention Center in Maysville (606-564-3621) and the Montgomery County Regional Jail in Mount Sterling (859-498-8747). Families may need to call both jails, and should say the arrest came from Fleming County. For an arrest that just happened, the sheriff (606-845-4701) may know where the person was taken.

2. Can I look someone up online?

Yes. Search the inmate roster by last name and compare the birth date, because both jails house people from other counties. VINELink offers release alerts, and KYeCourts case search lists court dates.

3. How do I visit an inmate?

First learn which jail is holding the person, then phone that jail about visiting hours, registration, ID and video options. Anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian present. Ask what may be brought inside. Our visitation guide explains more.

4. How do I bond someone out?

Start by phoning the jail to check the bond amount and whether the person is still in custody. Then take payment to the circuit clerk in Flemingsburg (606-845-7011); the jail itself won't accept bond. Bring photo ID, and if you plan to write a personal check, have that ID ready too. See our bail guide and money guide.

5. How can I fund an inmate's account?

Each jail sets its own deposit methods, limits and fees, so call the one holding the person. Use the legal name. Money pays for snacks, hygiene products and calls after any jail fees. Our money guide and commissary guide help.

6. Can an inmate call out?

Yes, through a prepaid account with the jail that holds them; you can't call in. Each jail has its own phone service, so ask about rates there. Everything said is taped and could be played in court, so steer clear of the case. See our phone guide and messaging guide.

7. How do I send a letter?

Learn which jail has the person and ask that jail how letters should be addressed. Write the complete legal name and include where you live. Staff open all but legal mail and return banned items. Our mail guide covers photos and more.

8. Who do I contact about a medical concern?

Phone whichever jail houses the person and request the supervisor on shift. Name the inmate and explain the issue, for example a missed medicine. Ask about property there as well. 9. Could a Flemingsburg arrest have another warrant?

It could, and the Fleming sheriff's office will check at 606-845-4701. Because the county borders Mason, Rowan and Bath, a statewide name search on the courts' free guest records search is worth the few minutes it takes.

People released with a warrant usually surrender at the host jail that housed them, the Mason County Detention Center or the Montgomery County Regional Jail, ideally with a defense attorney beside them. The circuit clerk's office at 101 N. Main Cross St., Flemingsburg, KY 41041, answers at 606-845-7011.

11. Can I get a mugshot?

Yes. Ask the booking jail in writing for the mugshot under Kentucky's open records law, including the name and arrest date. News media and reporters can request it from that jail or from the sheriff. Yes, either jail can, as long as the U.S. Marshals pay for the beds. A federal case from Fleming County goes to the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Kentucky, 101 Barr Street, Lexington, KY 40507, 859-233-2503, where custody is argued at a detention hearing before a magistrate. The BOP inmate locator shows people after a federal sentence. A federal defender is appointed if the person can't pay a lawyer. Flemingsburg federal custody questions go to the Lexington Marshals (859-436-6750).

13. What steps follow an ICE detainer on a Fleming arrest?

Ask the holding jail, Mason (606-564-3621) or Montgomery (859-498-8747), whether a detainer arrived. ICE's Kentucky office is in Louisville (502-625-6202); Lexington marshals answer at 859-436-6750.

  1. ICE sends an I-247A detainer to the jail holding the person.
  2. When the Fleming charge would end custody, ICE may ask Fleming's jail to detain a Flemingsburg prisoner up to 48 hours after they would otherwise be released, per 8 CFR 287.7(d).
  3. ICE must pick up the person before then.
  4. If not, the jail releases the person.
