Henry County Jail Inmate Search
Henry County Inmate Search
Henry County arrests are held at the Carroll County Detention Center (800 Clay Street, Carrollton, KY 41008; 502-732-9499), and its inmate roster shows who is in custody, so check the birth date before calling. Mugshot release is answered below. VINELink, KYeCourts guest search and our court guide cover release alerts and hearings.
1. Where do Henry County arrests end up?
They're taken to the Carroll County Detention Center on Clay Street in Carrollton, in neighboring Carroll County. Call 502-732-9499 with the full legal name. Soon after the arrest, the sheriff (502-845-2909) or the city police department involved can tell you whether the transfer to Carrollton has happened yet.
↑ Back to the question list2. Can I search for an arrest online?
Yes. Enter a surname in the inmate roster and compare dates of birth, since Carrollton also holds Carroll County inmates. VINELink sends free release alerts and KYeCourts guest search shows hearings. A brand-new booking can take a while to appear.
↑ Back to the question list3. How do I visit someone in Carrollton?
Phone Carrollton at 502-732-9499 to learn the visiting schedule, registration steps, accepted ID and whether video sessions exist. Minors must be with a parent or guardian, and visitors pass through a security check. Confirm the day before you drive, since lockdowns can cancel sessions. Our visitation guide explains more.
↑ Back to the question list4. What does posting bond involve for a Carrollton inmate?
Check the amount with 502-732-9499, then bring cash to the clerk at the courthouse in New Castle (502-845-7551) on a weekday; Henry bond must be paid in cash and isn't accepted at the jail. Carry photo ID and keep the receipt. Our bail guide and money guide explain more.
↑ Back to the question list5. How can family fund commissary?
Carrollton sets its own deposit options, limits and fees, so ask 502-732-9499 first. Use the legal name the jail booked. Once fees come out, the balance buys commissary food and hygiene items and covers phone time; leftover money is returned at release. See our money guide and commissary guide.
↑ Back to the question list6. Can someone in custody call me?
Inmates make outgoing calls from a prepaid account; 502-732-9499 can explain how to open one and what calls cost. Every call is recorded and may be shared with prosecutors, so don't talk about the charges. Our phone guide and messaging guide cover more.
↑ Back to the question list7. What's the process for writing a letter?
Get the current mailing address and rules from 502-732-9499. The envelope needs the inmate's full legal name, plus the sender's address. Officers inspect everything except legal correspondence, and anything prohibited is sent back. Our mail guide explains photo rules.
↑ Back to the question list8. Who can I call about an inmate's health?
Phone 502-732-9499, ask for the supervisor on duty, and give the inmate's name and the problem, such as a medication that wasn't given. That office also handles property questions. A LaGrange Trial Office of the Department of Public Advocacy (833-895-0581) lawyer can ask the judge to address serious medical issues. Having the prescriber's name ready helps.
↑ Back to the question list9. Could a New Castle arrest held in Carrollton have more warrants?
It could, and the sheriff in New Castle will check at 502-845-2909. The courts' free guest records search lists open cases statewide, which helps when someone has history in Shelby, Oldham or Franklin.
Anyone released with a warrant still open may go back to Carrollton and surrender at the county's host jail, the Carroll County Detention Center, preferably on a date a defense attorney has set. The circuit clerk's office at 30 N. Main St., New Castle, KY 40050, answers at 502-845-7551.
↑ Back to the question list10. Where are juveniles held?
Not in the adult jail. Each youth placed in detention gets a judge's review in under 48 hours, weekends and holidays aside (KRS 610.265). The Department of Juvenile Justice (502-573-2738) chooses the placement, and Henry District Court handles the case.
↑ Back to the question list11. Can I get a mugshot?
Yes. File a written open records request with the jail in Carrollton, naming the person and booking date and asking for the mugshot. Outlets in the news media can also send the mugshot request to the sheriff. For ICE photos, use the ICE FOIA page. The Marshals release federal mugshots only during a fugitive search.
↑ Back to the question list12. Could a federal prisoner from Henry be held in Carrollton?
Only if Carrollton has contracted with the U.S. Marshals for beds; the Marshals decide where each federal detainee goes. Federal charges filed against Henry residents land at the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Kentucky, 330 West Broadway, Frankfort, KY 40601, 502-223-5225; a detention hearing there determines pretrial custody. Federal prisoners show up in the BOP locator after sentencing. New Castle families should try the Frankfort Marshals line, 502-223-5608.
↑ Back to the question list13. What happens if ICE flags a Henry arrest?
Carroll jail staff (502-732-9499) can tell you if a detainer came in. Frankfort marshals (502-223-5608) handle federal holds; ICE answers in Louisville (502-625-6202).
- ICE sends an I-247A detainer to the jail.
- Once the state case is ready to let the person go, ICE may ask Carrollton to hold a Henry prisoner up to 48 hours after they would otherwise be released, per 8 CFR 287.7(d).
- ICE must pick up the person inside that window.
- Otherwise the jail releases them.
- The ICE locator lists people in ICE custody.
14. Is the Carrollton jail crowded, and when is circuit criminal court in New Castle?
Crowded. The state's weekly jail report for Oct. 22, 2026 counted 130 inmates against 88 beds at the Carroll facility (502-732-9499), about 148 percent. In New Castle, circuit criminal cases are heard on the second Thursday at 9 a.m., and the clerk's circuit line is 502-845-2868; a recorded jury line gives updates for people summoned to serve.
↑ Back to the question list15. How soon after bail is someone released?
Release follows once the New Castle clerk sends the bail paperwork to Carrollton. The jail returns personal items and remaining funds after deducting fees. Check with 502-732-9499 on timing, and line up someone to drive the person home from Carroll County.
↑ Back to the question list16. How do I find someone sent from here to state prison?
Search the KOOL search by name for the prison or county jail with state inmates. Our Kentucky prison directory has phone numbers. A fresh transfer may not show in KOOL right away.
