Madison Parish Inmate Search, Tallulah

Madison Parish posts no online inmate list or mugshots, so to search for someone held in Tallulah you call: the parish jail at 404 East Green Street, Tallulah, LA 71282, 318-574-1833, or the Madison Parish Correctional Center at 158 Treatment Plant Road, Tallulah, LA 71282, 318-574-0584. This page explains what to ask, mugshot requests, bond, the 6th Judicial District, Marshals and ICE holds, and police for Tallulah, Delta, Mound and Richmond.

Which jail numbers serve Madison Parish?

↑ Back to the question list

What does Green Street need from me?

Green Street staff look people up by name and date of birth. Once they find the record, they can usually tell you the charges and whether any bond is on file.

↑ Back to the question list

Can I get a copy of a Madison Parish mugshot?

Madison doesn't post mugshots online, so ask the sheriff at 318-574-1831. Act 281 of 2024, in effect since August 1, 2024, lets agencies release booking photos before trial. Removal-for-pay sites must erase a photo for free within 7 days of being shown a dismissal, not-guilty verdict, pardon or expungement. Photos from immigration arrests come from ICE's FOIA office, and federal ones from the U.S. Marshals. A Tallulah news story might show a booking photo only when the Madison sheriff decides to release one.

↑ Back to the question list

What if neither Tallulah jail has the person?

Check the Riverbend Detention Center in East Carroll at 318-559-5980 or the Tensas Parish Detention Center at 318-749-5810. Someone arrested across the river in Vicksburg will be in a Mississippi jail, not a Louisiana one.

↑ Back to the question list

Could a minor offense be a citation instead?

Yes. Tallulah police can cite small offenses into Tallulah city court, which means the person gets a court date instead of being booked. The police department at 318-574-3230 can tell you whether a citation was written.

↑ Back to the question list

How soon does a Madison judge see the person?

Article 230.1 requires a first appearance within 72 hours, leaving out weekends and holidays. A 6th district judge decides bail and counsel; when the deadline is missed, the parish must release the person on recognizance.

↑ Back to the question list

How is bail posted?

Judges of the 6th Judicial District set the amount. Cash, property and signature bonds are all possible, and a bondsman may charge at most 12 percent. The clerk of court is at 318-574-0655, P.O. Box 1710, Tallulah, LA 71282. Our Madison bail guide has more.

↑ Back to the question list

Who prosecutes and defends the case?

The 6th district court sits at the courthouse in Tallulah, where the district attorney prosecutes. Anyone who can't pay for a lawyer can be assigned one by the public defender at 1602A Felicia Drive, Tallulah, LA 71282, 318-434-4010. Our court guide covers the rest.

↑ Back to the question list

How do visits, calls and deposits work?

Deposit options and visiting times vary, and Green Street staff at 318-574-1833 can explain the current ones. Our guides cover visiting, calls, messages, deposits and mail. Families who want to stock a Tallulah inmate's account with snacks or soap can start with our commissary page.

↑ Back to the question list

What if the person needs medicine?

Phone Green Street with the person's medicines, doses and pharmacy. Under R.S. 15:703, Madison Parish must keep a physician or contract clinic for its jails.

↑ Back to the question list

How long until a Tallulah release?

It usually takes a few hours once bond is paid. Because most pretrial arrests are held at Green Street and sentenced inmates at Treatment Plant Road, confirm which building has the person before you drive over.

↑ Back to the question list

Where do people serve a state sentence?

The Madison Parish Correctional Center on Treatment Plant Road holds state prisoners under contract, so someone sentenced here may stay in Tallulah rather than go to a prison. The Department of Corrections at 225-383-4580 can confirm the location, and our Louisiana state prisons list covers the prisons.

↑ Back to the question list

Is there an open Madison Parish warrant?

Call the sheriff at 318-574-1831 or the Tallulah police at 318-574-3230. Ask whether the warrant came from the 6th district court or Tallulah City Court, and whether a bond amount is preset. Neither keeps a public list, and there's no statewide Louisiana lookup. An attorney can accompany your relative to Madison Parish Correctional Center on Treatment Plant Road. If it's over a missed court date, the clerk at 100 North Cedar Street, 318-574-0655, can explain the way back onto the calendar.

↑ Back to the question list

Are Madison 17-year-olds tried as adults?

↑ Back to the question list

What if the charges are federal?

Madison's federal cases are heard in Monroe; Monroe's U.S. District Court clerk has offices at 201 Jackson Street, Suite 215, Monroe, LA 71201, 318-322-6740, and a Monroe magistrate decides pretrial custody under 18 U.S.C. 3142 after reading a pretrial services report. The U.S. Marshals are in Room 213, 318-322-8370; the BOP inmate locator lists federal prisoners.

↑ Back to the question list

What does an immigration detainer mean?

Tallulah booking prints are compared with federal databases, which can lead ICE to place a detainer asking the Tallulah jail to keep the person. A parish bond leaves the detainer active. Still, the jail may keep someone no longer than 48 hours after they would otherwise go free, and the detainer lapses if ICE hasn't collected them by then. Act 314 of 2024 requires Louisiana jails to cooperate. Search the ICE detainee locator, or contact the field office at 181 James Drive W, St. Rose, LA 70087, detention line 888-351-4024.

↑ Back to the question list

Can I get a text when someone leaves a Tallulah jail?

Use LA VINE, the state's free notification system. Look the person up, then add your phone or email to learn when they leave either Tallulah jail or are moved.

↑ Back to the question list

Is a call asking for Tallulah bail genuine?

Call the Green Street jail yourself at 318-574-1833 before paying. Bail in Tallulah is paid at the Tallulah jail or through a licensed bondsman, and a request for gift cards is a sign of fraud.
