⇓ Learn more ⇓ Show lessAll offenders from Polk County will be transported to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center which is part of the Tri County Corrections and provides housing for all inmates, both felony and misdemeanor, for the county as they wait for trial,and as they serve their sentence.
The capacity for the Northwest Regional Corrections Center is 200, with 3 housing units that are 60 beds, and one special management unit. It uses direct supervision where officers are found within the housing units interacting with them each day, sharing positive social interactions and providing a connection with them.
An online roster is maintained and updated regularly for the information of friends or family who may be looking for their loved one, this will include their arrest date and mug shot, as well as basic information such as charges and bail and the staff are able to answer questions on procedures by phone when you call 218-470-8100.
Programs are in place that all inmates are able to access to assist in rehabilitation and provide education, skills, and tools for rejoining their community. Adult Basic Education and GED testing ensure that all inmates leave with a basic education, while anger management and coping skills provide tools for maintaining relationships as well as maintaining employment.
Decision Points has a focus on positive decision making, while domestic violence education and healthy relationships focus on creating healthy relationships of all types.
While the facility provides medical and mental health care, there is also an attempt to maintain contact between inmates and their friends and family to improve their mental health, which also improves the safety of the jail.
Inmates are able to have money and prescription medication brought to the lobby, and those in the work release or sentence to service programs are able to have work clothing and shoes dropped off, up to three changes of clothing which will be kept in their locker.
Money can be added in the lobby or online and it will allow inmates to purchase commissary items and other needs.
Phone calls are also available every day, and money can be added to this account through the online portal or they may purchase phone cards from their commissary.
To send and receive messages there is another online account that can be accessed and will permit for money to be added to the account and messages to be sent to and from inmates.
Visits may be onsite or remote, with no onsite visits occurring on weekends or holidays, but Monday through Friday they are available 8am-9am, 9:40am-10:40am, and 1pm-4pm. Schedule visits at least one full day in advance by accessing the online account which is also where you will be able to engage in remote visits between 7am and 9pm every day, while onsite visits are at the kiosk in the lobby.

After being arrested, the offender is brought to the Northwest Regional Corrections Center for booking, which is the detailed process of identifying, classifying, deciding on charges, and whether the person will either be released on their own recognizance, allowed to be released on bail, or moved into the jail until their court date.

Magazines
News, special interest or sports magazines may also be mailed to an inmate as long as they are shipped directly from the publisher. Any magazines that contain profanity, weapons, pornography or other content that is adult in nature will be confiscated by the jail staff and will NOT be delivered to the inmate.
Books
The Northwest Regional Corrections Center allows books to be mailed directly to the jail from a reputable source such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble or Books-A-Million. You can order them directly from your computer and have them shipped to the inmate at the address noted.
