About the Audrain County Jail

The grand white and green entrance of the 70-bed Audrain County Jail and the brick building that surrounds it, is found outside of town with fields and country roads surrounding it. Housing both male and female offenders who have ben arrested in Audrain County by any level of law enforcement, it offers all ranges of security needs for both misdemeanor and felony offenders and houses them until they have their trial or finish a sentence under a year in length. Housing areas are divided into pods and each pod has a dayroom with showers, phones, visiting stations, tables for eating and playing games or other social activities, and single or double cells. Housing is determined by past criminal charges and history of behavior in detention, gender, and any special considerations.

Upon intake, the booking process is completed, which includes a medical screening, fingerprinting and mugshots, DNA sample, along with an assessment to determine security needs, medical needs, mental health requirements, and housing assignment. 

Falling under the responsibility of the Sheriff’s Office, the jail is staffed around the clock and offers access to emergency medical care whenever necessary. Regular medical and mental health services are provided, along with a healthy diet, recreational activities, opportunities to improve social and life skills, and access to mail, telephones, and visiting hours.

Each letter will be opened, and all contraband removed before it is given to the inmate it is addressed to.

Within the common areas there are phone banks that provide an opportunity each to make phone calls to friends and family who are not currently incarcerated, and these calls will be made collect or though prepaid minutes purchased through commissary or phone accounts that are funded either online or at the kiosk that is found in the lobby of the jail.

    2. Log in, select your inmate, and select the Video Visit an Inmate option.
    3. You will be required to fill out a form, submit a driver's license picture and a picture of your face. Once submitted, Audrain County Jail will either approve or deny it.
    4. Once approved you will be all set to video visit!
