Sununu Youth Services Center

Located in Manchester, New Hampshire, there has been talk of closing the Sununu Youth Services Center in 2022, with an extension providing the location to remain open longer than March. The facility has 144 beds, but houses on average around 12 juveniles, and the cost of operation is outweighing the benefits of having it. A new facility has been proposed that will have 14 beds and the ability to house up to 18 in emergency situations. The current facility houses youth between 13 and 17, both males and females, and is staffed and operational 24 hours a day. The programming within the facility is designed to encompass all needs, including education, residential unit life, planning, and clinical treatments. As youth remain both before and after their first court date there are a full range of services to meet all of the basic needs including GED, basic education, testing, medical care and assessments, dental care, healthy meals, clothing and laundry, and recreation or exercise.
