About the Stanly County Detention Center

Transitioning from a 54 bed facility in 2006 into the current brick structure with 133 beds, the Stanly County Detention Center, serving all of Stanly County and the cities and towns therein, provides for all incarceration needs of the community. The inmates are offenders arrested in Stanly County that have recently been arrested for a felony or misdemeanor, are awaiting trial, or have been found guilty for their crime(s) and have been sentenced to one year or less.

It stretches down the block to ensure that there is space for the food services, laundry, classrooms, housing units, and recreational spaces. It was designed and built as a modular facility which allows for additions to be easily added in the future to continue meeting the needs of the surrounding communities. The five housing blocks hold the majority of residents, while the medical station cares for their medical needs, mental health care is provided, and each will spend a short time in the booking and release areas, while visitors and others will access only the lobby and visiting areas.

For the comfort of offenders there are several items for purchase from the commissary that can be funded by family members or friends to ensure they have access to clothing, paperback books, playing cards, paper and pens, envelopes, and more. Alternatives to funding the canteen online, inmates accounts may also be funded at the kiosk found in the jail lobby.

During incarceration inmates will be engaged in programming that provide education, treatment, live skills, social skills, and support for health and mental health concerns, but they will also have access to phones within the common areas to allow inmates to make outgoing phone calls to their family, friends, legal counsel, and other care providers.

Phone accounts can be created and funded online, and this allows for them to make phone calls between 8:00am and 5:00pm, with the phones being turned off during meals.

Mail is delivered each weekday and can be sent in a plain white envelope with the full name of the inmate and the address for deliver to:

Inmate's Full Name & Inmate ID#
Securus Digital Mail Center
Stanly County
PO Box 1103
Lebanon, MO 65536

... where it will be opened, checked for contraband, scanned, and then digitally delivered to the inmate for reading.

Visits are also encouraged to maintain the mental health of inmates and help them to feel part of their community even as they are incarcerated, so to make it accessible for as many as possible both onsite and remote visits are available. Onsite visits occur in the lobby at the visitation kiosks, with up to 15 minute visits once each week, scheduled online. To visit onsite there are days and times that are scheduled for each housing unit, with Tuesday being inmate workers and general population with last names A through L, Wednesday is for female inmates including inmate workers who get two visits each week, Thursdays are for inmate workers and general population M-Z, with evening visits being 6:00pm, 6:20pm, 6:40pm, 7:00pm, 7:20pm, and 7:40pm. Inmates may have remote visits any day, and are not limited on how many visits they have online.
