The multistory building covers a large area within the city and the windows appear like slits across the surface of the building. There is a phone service available for inmates to call outside the jail to their friends and family, visitation hours and regulations, and rules on what can be mailed into the jail. Each of these, as well as an inmate look up, are detailed in the sections below, so each visitor and the family of inmates can be aware of the rules and regulations they must follow. Visiting hours for male inmates are on weekdays from 8-10:30am, 1-2:30pm and 6-8pm with additional hours Sunday during the afternoon and evening hours. Female visitng hours are the same, but will be held in a separate visiting space. There are more generous hours for visiting for both men and women if done remotely by video. Instructions on how to register and schedule these are below.

In addition to visitation, in the sections below we have outlined how to bond an inmate out of jail, mail them, write them, text and email them, send them money for commissary and how the phone system works. In short, all of the answers to your questions on how to get in touch and stay in touch with your inmate can be found below this section.

Inmate Money Accounts

How Do You Deposit Money for an Inmate in the Lake County Adult Detention Facility?

There are FOUR options for putting money on an inmate's books:

Option 1 - Dropping Money at the Jail
Bring money to the jail in person.
Either the jail personnel will process the Inmate Account payment or you will use a Jail ATM self-serve kiosk in the lobbies that accepts cash, debit or credit cards.

Option 2 - Deposit Inmate Money Online
Lake County Adult Detention Facility uses Jail ATM to process all online deposits to an inmate's account. The company charges you a small fee for doing so, but the fee probably isn't as much as gas and parking would cost to take it to the jail in person.

Option 3 - Mail the Inmate Deposit to the Jail
Mailing a deposit takes more time to process than the other methods but can be done if you live too far away to bring it in person and you don't have a debit/credit card for online deposits. Never send cash. Always send a Money Order from the US Post Office, a reputable bank or Western Union. Call the Lake County Adult Detention Facility first as they may want you to do this online or at the jail kiosk instead.
Make the Money Order out to the inmate's name and put their Inmate ID# in memo section of the Money Order.

To do this you will need the inmate's offender # (inmate ID #) and full legal name.
